Do a search for DD214 on Kerry's own website at www.johnkerry.com. You can find out where Indian Hill Road is in Groton by consulting a road atlas or maps.yahho.com. It's off Massachusetts 111 across from the Groton School. Newburyport hasn't changed it's location either. It's at the mouth of the Merrimack River north of Boston.
I believe Mrs Frederick Winthrop is an aunt from his mother's (Forbes) side of the family. Ipswich is about 12 miles from Newburyport. He may have used his aunt's address rather than his actual address to obtain a draft board less likely to draft him.
According to Unfit for Command his 'first' tour was about 5 weeks on the USS Gridley did guard duty for planes operating in the China Sea and the Gulf of Tonkin. June 1967 to Nov 1967 the Gridley operated along the California coast, Jan 2 2968, the Gridley sailed for Austrailia and then returned to Long Beach, Ca, on June 8th. In other words , the Gridley was in what could be considered a "fighting zone" ( still far off the coast of Vietnam) for probably fewer than FIVE weeks while kerry was aboard; five weeks off the coast of Vietnam could hardly be called da "tour in Vietnam" Pg 24
I's like to see his address on his driver's license and employment applications..hmmm..
Just some notes....
"Kerry said he earned his three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a Silver Star under the process set up by the Navy "and I'm proud of them and I'm proud of my service and I'm proud that I stood up against the war when I came home because it was the right thing to do."
No, Kerry, the right thing to do would have been to report the alleged atrocities and war crimes in Vietnam as your duty required, or wait until all American soldiers were back and out of harm's way. You did neither in your rush to get in front of the cameras, Liveshot.
"Kerry also struck back at people who criticize him for trying to glorify only four months of service in Vietnam.
"I was there longer than that, number one," he said. "Number two, I served two tours. Number three, they thought enough of my service to make me aide to an admiral."
You should have thought enough of your service to stay instead of bugging out for some bandaid wounds.
"Kerry served six months aboard the USS Gridley, (as a deck ape) which supported aircraft carriers in the Gulf of Tonkin, before a four-month tour in the Mekong Delta that repeatedly (according to him) brought him close to his own errant gunfire. After Kerry got three Purple Hearts for injuries from enemy fire, he was reassigned out of the combat zone and got his requested assignment to be a personal aide to an admiral in New York."
An aide is like a gopher, right? Did that include a stateside tour with Hanoi Jane Fonda?
"Democratic Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, introducing Kerry at the fund-raiser, said by watching the group's ads, "you'd think this was a 1962 or a 1976 presidential election."
After listening to Kerry at the DNC convention, Rendell would be right. Even Dems said is sounded like he just got off a Swiftboat and ran for president!
"If you want this election to be decided on the Vietnam War, then I ask you one question: Who served this country better during the Vietnam War, John Kerry (website - news - bio) or George Bush?" Rendell said."
Given the testimony of the SBVT and your stateside sedition, I would say George Bush served the country better.
"Bush served stateside in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam war, and did not see combat. Democrats have questioned whether he always showed up for duty."
And they did it loudly, for weeks on end, with the aid of their media flying monkeys, while the President released all his records and gave a full, unembellished accounting of his ANG service, with virtually nobody making any claims to the contrary. Compare that to Kerry's current controversy.
"During a speech earlier Tuesday at Cooper Union in New York, Kerry sought to turn the campaign debate to issues on which he thinks he can win - and away from questions about his Vietnam service. He also tried to paint Bush as the candidate who has been dishonest."
Which is the most dishonest thing of all. Kerry constantly brought up Vietnam, and more importantly, while personally attacking, and encouranging others to attack, the President's ANG service with lies and distortions. Bush has the class not to do the same to you, despite how pathetically easy it would be. Now you cry because people did what you requested: "Bring. It. On." They did, and you crumbled.
"My duty, as I understand it, is to be a president and commander in chief who finds the truth and tells the truth instead of misleading the American people," Kerry said to 850 invited supporters in the city where Republicans will nominate Bush for re-election next week. "My duty is to be a president who tells the truth instead of hiding behind front groups, saying anything and doing anything to avoid the real issues that matter like jobs, health care and the war in Iraq."
Prove it: sign the 180 and reveal who is really telling the truth about your Vietnam service. To do otherwise is gutless and stupid, neither being qualities anyone wants to see in a president and commander in chief.
"Kerry spoke a day after Bush criticized attack ads run by outside groups - known as 527s because of an IRS code provision - including the commercials being aired by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. Kerry has said the veterans group is a front for the president's re-election campaign. The Bush campaign denies any coordination."
Put up or shut up, Kerry. And you never once denounced the continuous attacks on the President's ANG service by your own 527 "front groups" like Moveon.org. More hypocrisy from the king.
"Kerry's campaign will go on the air in Nevada, New Mexico and Pennsylvania on Wednesday with a commercial responding to a new ad there by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth."
With smear and ad hominem attacks, not facts. Even the Dems can smell your fear Kerry.
"The Bush campaign and its allies have turned to the tactics of fear and smear because they can't talk about jobs, health care, energy independence and rebuilding our alliances," Kerry said."
Kerry is apparently confused. The President has done nothing but talk about the issues that you mention, while you still live in the late 60's and refuse to end the speculation by releasing your FULL military/medical records. You call the SBVT a "fear and smear" organization, but you have not refuted a single claim with a fact, while dishonestly defaming and slandering them. They put their names on sworn affidavits, Kerry. Now it is your turn to step up to the plate. If you dare.
To do any less is cowardly and gutless. Show us what a "hero" you are, Liveshot.
Ok, its Kerry, Harkin and Ortega. But Who is the glassy eyed chick looking with love in her eyes at the communist? (Ortega)
No, it's Paul Begala. ;D
Actually Harkin and the younger Ramsey Clark (when Clark was Johnson's AG) look alike.

You just have to spoil my fun! You're a real party fart, aren't you? :(
It was the Marines, Army, Seals, Airmen, Coast Guard, Special Forces, etc.
I saw a party die when someone brought in several cases of Carlings Black Label back from an emergency beer run.
And you're killing this one, single-handedly!
Another party-killer was me putting on inappropriate records, such as those by skronk noise groups. My favorite was the first album by Savage Republic. Sent them all home.
It's a rare talent you have.
Let's see now, let's follow the direct line from 1971 through 2003 through a senate career. Hmmm, let's look at the votes to see if they show Mr. Kerry to be consistent with his testimony/activism of 1970's. Yep, it's all consistent. No, thank you.
What a doofus.
One of many, but one of the more questionable ones.
On the local news here in Vegas they had one of the band of brothers that was on stage with him at the convention.
Don't know his name, he is the one that looks at Kerry like he is in love with him and really hugs him.
Well, he said they have been sent out by Kerry to dispute the lies of the Swift Boat Vets.
This guy said he was never with Kerry when he got one of his medals, but did serve with him.
Definitely not one of your better ones! ;)
LOL
