He doesn't actually date it. He dates something as "an incident that occurred on October 14th."

Then, he says "a few weeks later..." the 'staged landing' took place.

1,2,3,4 = ~11/14/68; 5,6,7,8, = ~12/14/68; 9,10,11 = into first week of Jan/69; 12,13,14 WEEKS is minimum those "few weeks late" could have occurred, IF Laird went to Vietnam rather than to Nixon's Inauguration.

Looks like 'a few *months* later would have been a more accurate lie.

Serving on Yankee Station; do not underestimate your service. No matter if you were on the carrier or one of the picket ships, no matter if you only slung hash, You provided essential support and protection to aviators, in country troops as well as the friendly civilian population of SVN. CTF 77 provided support for all air ops in the north and central areas of VN. CTF 77 made possible all the flights out of Danang made by my unit. What bothers me about Kerry almost as much as his post VN service treachery is his inability to understand the concept TEAMWORK

Geez, Gunney, that big a$$ sticker is going to back up lib drivers for miles. I've heard Rangers "Lead the Way" but you are certainly going to "Plow the Road".

P.S. Make the libs merge right.

Thanks for correcting me:

He doesn't actually date it. He dates something as "an incident that occurred on October 14th."

Then, he says "a few weeks later..." the 'staged landing' took place.

Shermy, I got it wrong, date-wise. Of course, the larger issue, whether Kerry made up the "staged landing for Laird", remains.

Look if the 1812 overture can have cannons- the Kerry overture can have percussion grenades.

You might want to "google" "percussion grenades" before you start laughing too hard. They were black, beer can size and weight. The guys on the boats in Mekong Delta used them to discourage enemy divers. They weren't "frag" grenades. I may be mistaken, but you may be thinking of concussion grenades that would be used to stun an enemy in a tunnel, building, or house.

**I hope that the whole truth comes out. I believe it will if people read "Tour of Duty", "Unfit for Command," and Kerry signs the "180" form which will allow the Navy to release all of his records, not just the ones he has selected.**

Bumpo on that!

Kerry apparently said Sec Def Laird witnessed a staged attack in October 1968, impossible since Laird didn't become SecDef until 1969.

Another CiC moment?

That October date doesn't fit with Kerry's time on the Swifts. He didn't report there until November 1968.

I believe that for the most part, Kerry's FANS bought his book; "Tour of Duty", more than anyone else. If more people picked it up, they would be able to pick out a lot more errors and issues out of his book. They may just hate the idea of putting more money in Kerry's already stuffed pocket.

Bob, see AR's #22. The October date serves as a reference point. The text doesn't put Kerry on Swift Boats then, and refers to Laird's visit "a few weeks later".

Kerry can skate on this one for now.
