I thought 'hurling' was more appropriate for following 'beer drinking'. It was a joke. ;)

...ask the same question for men's diving then....

Ok. Why do the men in diving wear little Speedos and the women divers wear very tight and tasteful one piece outfits? And don't tell me it's because a two piece would come off when entering the water. It doesn't happen to the men and something like this...

...would not come off during entry to the water.

Perhaps Greg Louganis could give the answer to that one. I'm sure it also has to do with attracting eyeballs...from both sides of the aisle.

You all say what you want. I think Misty May has one fine bottom.

Say whaaaat!...she has "THE" perfect bottom (a perfect "T"). Nice, very nice view indeed!

Hey... we've mentioned curling and hurling. Do you happen to know the name of the event where they slide the big stones across the ice like shuffle board? Ice shuffle board doesn't sound right.

Like softball, I would guess it is 60-70% lesbian participation.

Say it isn't so!!! I don't think that I could go on if Jenny Finch were a lesbian!

Seriesly though, the two sports the US completely dominated the world in were softball (what was the total scoring? Something like 52 to 1!) and I believe that these two ladies didn't lose a single game througout the Olympics!

"Thanks for proving our points! ROFLMAO"

I'm only proving your points if you take one thing I said and ignore all the others. Much like the mushy headed feelgoodniks wanted to do in the case of the paul hamm medal controversy. But I'm not suprised. That's the only way a lot of people can 'win' their arguments around here.

Here is what you think a male beach volleyball player should be wearing in the 'equal' world:

Now, you may see some wannabe pimps and playas on the beach in that. The last time I've seen a heterosexual guy wearing a bikini like that outside of a swim meet was the italian caddy guy from 'caddyshack'. It's just not worn nowadays.

This is what you see most guys wearing on the beach:

And that's what you see when they play volleyball. So let me summarize if you still can't grasp the concept:

What most men wear on the beach == what most men wear playing beach volleyball
What most women wear on the beach == what most women wear playing beach volleyball.

Now you may have extremes in either directions in what people wear on the beach. Some guys mightwear the slingshot bikini brief, but most are in trunks. Some women may wear thongs and string binkinis, but most are in regular bikinis. Some women may wear dowdy male like outfits, but again, they don't have to run around a sandy court for an hour jumping and diving after a volleyball.

Oh, and another reason men wear larger bottoms than women, in case you didn't know it: Men and women have different anatomy. Men have to worry about extra "bits" flipping and flopping around more than john kerry on the campaign trail. Maybe you're a woman and you don't know what it's like, but if you're jumping around a court like they are, the support you get from a thong isn't cut out for that type of activity.

It was a joke. ;)

Oh, I got the joke. I was just putting in a plug for one of my favorite sports. All the Irish lassies think hurlers are very manly. Even the beer drinking ones.

And I don't mean these kind of guys:

I think that one was mentioned earlier in the thread. It's called curling.

Mays/ walsh didn't lose a single game in the olympics. Prior to mays' injury, they won 90 consecutive games. They're just astounding to watch. They had some rallies in their last two matches that just went on and on.

I read what you said perfectly.

You spoke out of both sides of your mouth to the poster I refered to in your ridiculous leap to explain the utility of the "uniforms" worn by the BVB players.

Also, if someone doesn't consider VB a sport it doesn't make them a moron just because you say they are a moron, moron.

Hey, they might get more spectators. If womens vb can be about T&A then turn about is fair play, not necessarily fore play, but FAIR play!

What's good for the goose is good for the gander! I don't care if both sexes cover up, or both sexes dress in the same type of tight skimpy wear.

When I watched the men play, one of the guys on the Nygaard/Blandon team got a foul. Why? Because his baggy shirt touched the net! Guess what, their outfit was NOT funtional. If he didn't have that shirt on, no foul!!!!

Nuff said. :)

I found that during the last winter olympics I liked watching that. Curling? Thanks. I thought the pic you posted earlier was the curling and the one like shuffle board was the hurling. Maybe these events wouldn't be so confusing if their players took off most of their clothes. Keep the attention better ya know? ;) ;)

Yes, but we really must agree that if they were indeed SERIOUS volleyball players, they wouldn't inhibit their performance in the Olympics by wearing those atrocious uniforms, when serious female volleyball players only wear pasties.

I disagree, and if we're discussing what is and is not a sport, let's please look at any of the shooting sports.

I disagree with you completely! As far as shooting goes, it really is a sport... Especially the biathalon.

But the olympic shooting events, rifle, handgun, and shotgun, are all sports, requiring years of series training and tremendous dedication and precision.

Have you eve competed in three position smallbore competition? The "10 Ring" is a dot in the center of the target. To score an "X" (the tie-breaker used to determine the winner when the score is tied), you must center the bullet through the "9 ring," which is exactly .22" in diameter, the same as that of the bullet. These shooters learn not only to control their breathing, but their pulse as well. You need to be in excellent physical shape for this sort of shooting.

"Also, if someone doesn't consider VB a sport it doesn't make them a moron just because you say they are a moron, moron."

once again with the personal attacks. You're all class, ain't you? And I didn't resort to name calling like you apparently must to make yourself feel better. I said that trying to argue that something that is clearly a sport isnt' a sport makes them LOOK MORONIC. I attacked the position being expressed - you continually attack the person. Which just makes you look really, really pathetic.

Here's what I said. Apparently you can't tell the difference between two points in one post. Maybe to you if its in one post, it's all the same point, eh?

"And to go back to the original post, it is a sport. Anybody who tries to dispute that just looks moronic."

I stand by that. Hell, I'll expand it to say that most people who mouth off that "X is not a sport" just end up looking moronic. Most of the time they're know nothing do nothings whose greatest physical activity involves getting their butts off the couch for another beer. It's yet another example of the watchers attacking the doers.

Since You seem to be unable to comprehend the "No personal attacks" below the post button, I won't hold my breath that you can comprehend what I said.

Nuff said? There was a point in that? If that's what you believe is proving a point, you may want to take some lessons.

Why don't you try disputing this fact?

What most men wear on the beach == what most men wear playing beach volleyball
What most women wear on the beach == what most women wear playing beach volleyball.

Trying to say tighter and less clothes for the women is funtional, and long baggy clothes for the guys is funtional (when it is NOT funtional because they get a foul for their baggy shirt touching the net) makes your position LOOK AND SOUND MORONIC!

Could a female vb player wear a long shirt and long baggy shorts or does the olympic committee determine that she must wear tight skimpy clothing?

If some olympic committee is determining what the women wear then that same committee can very well determine what the men wear. The olympic committee makes the rules ya know. :)
