Alice Cooper: Anti-Bush acts treasonous morons
Worldnet Daily ^

Posted on 08/24/2004 1:26:47 PM PDT by PaulaB

Shock-rock legend Alice Cooper calls rock stars campaigning for Democrat John Kerry treasonous morons.

The 56-year-old Cooper says he was disgusted to learn the likes of Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, R.E.M., Sheryl Crow, James Taylor and Dave Matthews were hitting the road for a series of concerts designed to help defeat President Bush.

"To me, that's treason," Cooper told the Canadian Press. "I call it treason against rock 'n' roll because rock is the antithesis of politics. Rock should never be in bed with politics."

When I was a kid and my parents started talking about politics, I'd run to my room and put on the Rolling Stones as loud as I could. So when I see all these rock stars up there talking politics, it makes me sick.

"If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal."

"Besides," he continued, "when I read the list of people who are supporting Kerry, if I wasn't already a Bush supporter, I would have immediately switched. Linda Ronstadt? Don Henley? Geez, that's a good reason right there to vote for Bush."

As WorldNetDaily previously reported, Linda Ronstadt was escorted off the property of a Las Vegas casino after publicly supporting Bush-bashing film director Michael Moore, and singer Don Henley was subsequently booed on stage in Orange County, Calif., for expressing support for Linda Ronstadt during one of his own concerts.

Cooper, whose real name is Vincent Damon Furnier, is reportedly a strong Republican who joins Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., at NBA games in Phoenix.

He continues his own summer rock tour, with upcoming dates in the Northeast, Canada, California and Las Vegas.

I seen a couple of his concerts late 70's and early 80's. He puts on one heck a show, and the music was right on.

I'm not sure about this, but didn't he graduate from Moon Valley high? One of my first apartments when I moved into town (Phoenix) was across the street from Moon Valley and my brother was always telling me that's where Alice Cooper went.

Alice Cooper is the King of Rightwing cool, no doubt about it. He once said (and I'm paraphrasing here) the the original Alice Cooper group drove the stake through the heart of the peace and love, hippie, movement of the late 60's early 70's. His 2003 release, "The Eyes of Alice Cooper," absolutely smokes.

James Hetfield of Metallica (Lars Ulrich is a liberal wuss though from what I hear)

I think Lars says that he stays out of American politics because he's Danish. I can respect that.

I just heard that song as well. Not sure if it was on a Lansing or Detroit station since I flip between them all the time.

Thanks for the wonderful interview. I've printed it out and slipped it under our son's electric guitar.

Rock on, Vince.

I discovered the interview while I was testing out my new Gibson Les Paul. :-)

I can see you smiling from here.

My husband has an old Black Beauty Les Paul double cut-away (or something like that) but it will take considerable cash to restore it.

So we admire it quietly.

Keep the bass down; we're trying to type. 8~)

Hey. You got to love Alice. He Rocks.
The RNC should get Alice to open the convention with this song. It would Rock.

Elected

I'm your top prime cut of meat, I'm your choice
I wanna be elected
I'm your yankee doodle dandy in a gold Rolls Royce
I wanna be elected
Kids want a savior, don't need a fake
I wanna be elected
We're gonna rock to the rules that I make
I wanna be elected, elected, elected
I never lied to you, I've always been cool
I wanna be elected
I gotta get the vote, and I told you about school
I wanna be elected, elected, elected
Hallelujah, I wanna be elected
Everyone in the United States of America
We're gonna win this one, take the country by storm
We're gonna be elected
You and me together, young and strong
We're gonna be elected, elected, elected
Respected, selected, call collected
I wanna be elected, elected

One of my all time lyrics by Alice;"Nothing came easy nothing came free as a matter of fact nothing came at all until they came after me"

Thanks Alice for the great quote. Mr. C4E, a rock musician, will get a kick out of this one. I like Alice Cooper's back-to-school commerical too. LOL

The RNC really needs to turn up the wattage in big way. So far it been lame and this should do it. After AC's "Elected" then follow up with ZZ-TOP's "We'er Bad, We'er Nation Wide". This will let America know that they are not dealing with the lame party of John long face "I'm a war criminal, no wait a minute I'm a war hero" Kerry.

Yes...I don't know how totally committed to faith he is but I did read where he credited God for changing his life in addition to the drug rehab he went thru. He has been clean and sober for years and he actually looks like he is enjoying life more than he ever did during his "bad" years!

You bet. I still have some classic vinyl, but I never listen to them anymore (no turntable). Today's kids wouldn't know what all that stuff is!

Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice

I do quite frequently. I still have my beautiful Yamaha YS-211 turntable setup in a corner of my living room. I've played just about every LP I own for my kids at one time or another. They actually like some of it.

I got a real laugh earlier this year when Limp Bizkit did a cover of The Who's "Behind Blue Eyes". My son was listening to it one day and I said, "Hmmm...that's a catchy tune."
My son replied, "Yeah, it's new from Limp Bizkit."
I motioned for him to follow me as I went to my collection and pulled out "Who's Next" and set the needle on "Behind Blue Eyes".
I told him that this was written and recorded by The Who in November of 1971. The look on his face was priceless.
