I would bet they are glad UDAY and Saddam are gone now huh?!?
Not at all, the article directly
quoted THEM, not FReepers. Please!
Believe as you will, however.....
Uh case in point in regards to the media, one term, Swift Boat Veterans.
How about Radio Free Europe? At;

" But Bush's rhetoric has been roundly rejected by the Iraqi team. Last week, the squad issued a simple statement through midfielder Salih Sadir that asked Bush not to use its success for his campaign.
Other players have been even more passionate. Midfielder Ahmed Manajid, a Sunni from Al-Fallujah, told the U.S. magazine "Sports Illustrated": "How will [Bush] meet his god, having slaughtered so many men and women?" Manajid added that U.S.-led forces killed his cousin who had been fighting in Al-Fallujah, and that were he not playing football, he would be part of the "resistance."
Mohammed, the star playmaker from the Shi'a holy city of Karbala who scored the bicycle-kick winner against Australia, has called for all foreign forces to leave Iraq.
The White House has not responded directly to such criticism, and Bush told reporters today that he is watching the Iraqi football team's progress with interest.
For his part, coach Hamd said his problem is not with Americans, but with their government. He said security is so bad in Iraq now, that Bush's talk of freedom is senseless:
"You cannot speak about a team that represents freedom," Hamd said. "We do not have freedom in Iraq; we have an occupying force in the country." "
Go Paraguay!
Not to worry - Iraq is losing 3-1 with little time left.
Keep in mind we are at War with the Isamlic world and the majority of Iraqis and Muslims hate us no matter what. They didnt like Saddam but he kept them in check through fear. Now that fear is taken away they are showing their true colors.
Apples and oranges.
I really don't mind these guys criticizing the President, despite the monumental selfishness it expresses.
The way I see it, President Bush's policies gave them the liberty to spout off. If they are still spouting off, they must still be free.
"...one or more said they want to kill American troops."
I see the connection now but was thrown by the wording of the recollection. I wish Manajid well, I hope he realizes his dream and quickly becomes a mound of dirt in Iraq.
In total I still don't think he and his assistant coach speak for the whole team but are simply being used by a reporter.
It depends on what part of Iraq you're talking about. In many regions things are very calm and moving forward, in others fear is still a prominent factor.
Its one thing to spout off but its another to say as one said, when he gets back to Iraq he is going to join Sadr Militia and try to kill americans
JMO, go back to DU or PatBuchanan.com for a refresher course in riling up "true conservatives" over how the media is "honest".
Brainwashed cannon fodder. More's the pity.
Ok Dane. Thats me alright, a DU troll. Grow up. No where did I say all the media was honest but if there is one conservative in Athens, then the presser will be covered and Drudge would have it up and the story would then be out there.
Take your bull and ram it where your head currently resides.
Agree 100%
Did Iraq lose?
May those who who appreciate the fact that the president liberated them from tyranny enjoy health, long life, success in all their endeavors and large, HAPPY families.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
We are all expected to have hostile knee jerk reactions.
Sometimes FR reminds me of the last Reform Party convention.
Yes, Iraq lost 3-1 to Paraguay. They will play Italy on Saturday for the bronze medal.
Perhaps between now and then the media can find a couple of players who support the US. Think any of them have the testicles to stand up to the blowhard who got to get face time?
