The characters (some) actors portray in movies are a vast difference from how they actually live their lives.
I added (some) to your statement because there are many actors who put their money where their mouths are and will not lend their talent to certain types of projects....and then there are those who put their personal values on the shelf in order to get a pay day.

Is it the morality on-screen that bugs you or the level of "prestige" involved? Pretend (and yes I'm going extreme here) it's a Shakespearean play. Or it's a LOI to star in the Godfather. Both are full of murder, violence, betrayal, and all other sorts of sordid things. Both are also considered masterpieces in their respective medium.
