Stephen must be the white sheep of the Baldwin family.

It is crazy but the $$$ is, or can be, ridiculous. Alec can get $250k a week. Stephen much less but still good. The sad part is when actors who are not A list start feeling the cold. I don't know if I could hang in.

He's always come off as more conservative, and he's a born-again Christian.

Not so sure about that. I heard him on the Howard Stern show discussing this and it sounded like he kept relapsing back and forth.

Somehow I can't get the image of Stephen Baldwin in Biodome (with Pauly Shore) chewing on the corns of his feet out of my mind. It sort of overrides everything else.

I read something Kiefer Sutherland said about salaries. He said he makes more in a week than most make in a year. Wish I could remember the whole quote because he was sounding apologetic about it. Having a bad memory stinks!

ET - You criticized him for signing up for a movie that doesn't meet YOUR expectations of what is acceptable work for him. .....

wtc911 - Show me where I even mentioned whatI think is acceptable work for him. Use my words. You can't because I didn't. I assigned no moral assessment at all. I just stated what I know to be true.

You are a boob. I am tarring nobody. I am stating what I know to be a fact and that is that Baldwin has signed a LOI (letter of intent) to appear as a corrupt cop in a film funded by a known pornographer that glorifies the gangster life.

I'll ask you again but will not expect an answer, is that the way a born again conservative Christian earns his money?

You questioned if this movie would be the way a conservative christian would earn his money? THAT is the same thing as questioning if the film is appropriate work for him.

I did use your own words and you did question his moral judgement in taking signing such a movie deal.

YOU LOOSE.

Wrong Bobo, but thanks for trying. When I say use my words, I mean use my words. You used your own words and said that mine are just like them.

And, questioning what another poster thinks about what is an ok movie for a self-professed Christian is not making a statement about what I think, it is eliciting a clarification of what the other poster thinks.

Feel free to try again to use my words (not words that are "the same thing" as my words) to show where I made any statement that is a moral judgement. Good luck.

I don't need to try again, I made my point and anyone reading the discussion can see that I proved you wrong! You did in fact question whether it was appropriate for him to sign up for that movie.

'You can't handle the truth!'

Bye, bye.

Just the same, Jim Cavieziel has been in films where, among other things, he's had to simulate sex with Jennifer Lopez on-screen, with both nude (though of course, it isn't shown on-screen or either of them actually nude).

"he's a born-again Christian."

Wasn't he caught cheating on his wife...and poof he's born again. I have my suspicions about this character and his motivations.

You're admittedly setting up a strawman here. While a couple of folks might be going googly-eyed simply because a) He is a Christian and b) He's going to the GOP Convention, most of the rest of us recognize Baldwin is a flawed human being same as anyone else, and take the above mentioned things for what they are.

I added (some) to your statement because there are many actors who put their money where their mouths are and will not lend their talent to certain types of projects....and then there are those who put their personal values on the shelf in order to get a pay day.

Is it the morality on-screen that bugs you or the level of "prestige" involved? Pretend (and yes I'm going extreme here) it's a Shakespearean play. Or it's a LOI to star in the Godfather. Both are full of murder, violence, betrayal, and all other sorts of sordid things. Both are also considered masterpieces in their respective medium.

Stern's where I heard it first myself. Don't know if this was a "best of" from a couple years ago, but he seemed sincere on the show I heard.

Of course, I make no further judgments on exactly how conservative or Christian he is. Admittedly, my knowledge of this is from a couple snippets here and there that I've read or heard.
