Wow, Kerry doesn't have a chance of stopping the bleeding unless he gets the SBV's to back down and make nice. How many vets live in Florida? Many hundreds of thousands if not millions. And they all vote. If the Swifties come forth with another, even more deadly ad in another month, as they say they will, Kerry has to be going out of his mind. His campaign is dead in the water, sinking fast. Kerry knows all his sins, so he probably can guess which one the Swifties are going to tie around his neck come Oct.
The fact the media broke away is telling. It speaks more about the state of his campaign than any polls do. If he looked like a winner, they'd cover him from start to finish. In today's speech, John F*ckin' did not do anything to stem the hemorrhaging, which will continue unabated. He merely changed subject, which is a sure sign of desperation. One wonders though if he can bring himself to stop talking about Vietnam for good.
You know something else, there are a LOT of retired vets in California, despite the high cost of housing there. Most bought their houses before the 40% run-up in prices during the last four years. Bush may pick up a large majority of the veteran vote this Fall. And yesterday Congressman David Dreyer said Governor Arnold "will leave no doubt who he supports for President next week." Sounds like the Dem legislators in California have finally got Arnold riled up. So with a big vet turnout and Arnold's suport for Bush, and relative apathy among Democrats, well you never know, the Golden State could got to GWB in a squeaker. If that happens, he wins even without Ohio.
