Kerry's Reaction

Kerry's Reaction John LeBoutillier Monday, Aug. 23, 2004 What the Swift Boat Controversy has done is show the world what many of us have known for years: John Kerry is a completely ruthless, calculating, pathological, overly-ambitious liar who will do anything to win the White House.

However, as bad as things seem for him at the moment - and make no mistake that this controversy is the worst chapter in his campaign since the days of Howard Dean zooming ahead in the race a year ago - the fact that he is being proven to be a liar, an exaggerator, an embellisher and a fabricator does not automatically mean he will not or can not win in November.

Isn’t that a sad commentary on American politics?

But the lessons of the two Bill Clinton elections are clear: the American people have voted and will vote for a liar - even if they know he is a liar.

In 1992, Clinton distinguished himself by lying so often and so outrageously that the voters elected him anyway. His denials over extra-marital affairs with Gennifer Flowers and other “bimbos,” his “I did not inhale” statement, and his various positions on his draft dodging escapades seemed not to matter to voters; they elected him twice anyway.

What does this tell us?

The American voter figures all politicians lie all the time anyway so why should this guy be any different?

And maybe they are right, too. But, sadly, this results in dishonest government, cover-ups, scandals and disgrace.

The Swift Boat Controversy has hurt Kerry among some key groups, especially veterans. It has also taken the spotlight off of a damaged and weakened President Bush and focused it squarely on Kerry. Some ‘un-named’ democrats worry that this controversy could cost Kerry the election. There is no doubt it is a serious problem for the Kerry Campaign.

Knowing Kerry, here is what he is contemplating: he is signaling Bush that everything is on the table now. That means that Kerry will take Bush - who he believes is directly involved in the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth campaign - right into the gutter as payback. Past allegations not only about Bush’s Texas Air National Guard problems will suddenly re-surface soon. But - ominously - so, too, may past rumors of Bush’s use of cocaine in his “young and irresponsible years” and rumors of Bush girlfriends having abortions. These have been raised in the past. Look for Kerry to have carefully researched them and prepared some type of attack based on them. In other words, Kerry is ready to go nuclear to win this election.

All along Kerry has tried to have it both ways on his Vietnam service: he saw himself as a war hero-turned anti-war leader. Anything that gets in the way of that picture infuriates him. And the Swift Boat Vets have gummed things up for him. But, in his pathological brain, he sees the Bush Attack Machine behind this and he is determined to destroy the Bushes once and for all.

Look for a MoveOn. org ad - or some other pro-Kerry 527 group - to air devastating negative commercials against Bush. And know that they are operating on direct orders from John Kerry.

Kerry has been telling people since high school - I know this because my brother was one year ahead of Kerry - that he was going to be President. And Kerry knows this is his one shot; if he loses, he is toast as the Democrats move to Hillary in 2008.

So Kerry has to do everything he can to win this election. And he will do whatever it takes.

Team Bush is already been hurt by Iraq, no WMD, and a still-weak economy. Their only hope of winning is to make Kerry the issue in the campaign. They have had a very good last 10 days; the media glare has been on Kerry and caused a re-examination of his war record.

But it will soon change; these stories tend to run out of gas after a couple of weeks.

The big question is: will new revelations emerge to hurt Bush or Kerry?

" and it infuriates them since they are so "superior"

And this infuriates the Pee-Ons. Their superiority.

Richer?

Most likely.

Superior?

Now that is funny.

They actually are less superior for thinking this.

I was in the Tonkin Gulf in 68-69 on the USS Wainwright (DLG-28) on PIRAZ.

I thought the war was behind us, but Kerry has scratch a scab that should have been left alone.

Kerry likes to use the phrase "Band of Brothers", but that group is not just those who serve with you in a squad, swift boat or division on a ship, it is all who serve and support you in the field. We in the Gulf were together in the fight. We could not do it alone or we would be dead. We were a band of brothers and supported our band of brothers ashore and in the air.

Kerry returned from Vietnam and betrayed us, the band of brothers who fought or were fighting in Vietnam alongside him. He lied about us and turned his back on us.

But his actions then are consistent with his action now. His shifting stand on issues is no different than his shifting stand on the war. Some call it flip-flops but it is really opportunism based on no core values except overweening ambition. He can easily vote for the war and vote against it. He can betray his band of brothers if it suits his ambition.

He can betray those who vote for him.

This is not only a sad commentary on American politics, but on America itself. The majority of people here can't be bothered to vote and don't care. Of those who do vote approx. one half are idiots who will destroy this country if given the chance.

That leaves the rest to defend this country against the asses of evil. The lies and hypocrisy from the left are stunning. Kerry and co. sink to new lows daily while getting a free pass from the media.

Taking the "high road" against this scum will only bring defeat. They have set the terms of this fight and I hope Bush and co. intend to oblige them because the future of this country requires it. This is going to be nasty and dirty regardless. Why should it one sided. If some are turned off by it so be it. They will just move to the majority of people who don't vote and don't care.

A brilliant and succinct call to arms. WELL SAID!!!!

One must remember, the so-called "Band of Brothers" traveling with Kerry, providing a backdrop for his speeches and backing him up on these stories have a vested interest in what they are doing.

They are all being financially compensated by the Kerry Campaign and are now celebrities themselves, traveling first-class in limos and private planes, being interviewed by the media and they stand to have really good jobs in a Kerry Administration. There's probably chicks too.

Not rock stars, but not bad for a bunch of old guys.

I pray you are right. I was heartened to read that they had reacted to our President's news conference yesterday with determined resolve to keep getting their message out.

You know, I have been thinking the same thing, ever since the bunny suit incident! Not only does it infuriate them, but the public tends not to respect (and therefor not vote for) someone who is the object of derision. I hope that is where we will go at the Convention!

I think it would be beautiful, poetic, and fitting, if the Veterans who have served our country with their blood, sweat, and tears, were the ones to ensure that our President, the only one of the two candidates who still has credibility and respect with our troops, and who has always had great respect for them, is given 4 more years to be those troops' CIC. God Bless them all.

"Isn’t that a sad commentary on American politics?"

Yes, and a sad commentary on the moral principles (or rather lack thereof) held by Americans.

All I can say is, if the American people are foolish enough to elect John Kerry, they deserve him.

From the NRO, Kerry Spot:

THIS IS BIG. [08/24 09:26 AM]

I feel like a schmuck for not noticing this sooner. Captain Ed certainly noticed. In a Fox News report from Major Garrett, Garrett said:

And questions keep coming. For example, Kerry received a Purple Heart for wounds suffered on December 2nd, 1968. But an entry in Kerry's own journal written nine days later, he writes that, quote, he and his crew hadn't been shot at yet, unquote. Kerry's campaign has said it is possible his first Purple Heart was awarded for an unintentionally self-inflicted wound.
Note one: When Michelle Malkin was fighting off the, "you're so wrong, but you're also so young, cutie" arguments of Chris Matthews, she got drawn into the argument of whether Kerry ever "shot himself" to get a Purple Heart. Let's clear this up. Not even the Swifties have made that argument - the contention is that Kerry fired or threw grenades to a target too close, and ended up hurting himself in the process. (Not unlike what happened to Bob Dole in his first purple heart.) Douglas Brinkley says Purple Hearts are given under these circumstances, but the Swifties also doubt whether at least one of the "ow-I-should-have-stood-further-away" experiences was during a battle.

Note two: Oh, Kerry. This kind of concession is going to hurt. We've been hearing how these Swifties are nuts, liars, Karl Rove marionettes, etc. And now we learn that maybe they're right about a few points.

But before one gets too excited, let us see if any Kerry campaign spokesman will say this on the record. Maybe they will backtrack from the backtrack.

What a perfect simile! You hit it bang on. The visual is primo, and I wish I were a whiz at PhotoShop!

I can't understand how it isn't obvious to everyone, that the Vets must be the ones telling the truth, otherwise the Dems, especially sKerry himself, wouldn't have reacted so violenty; they hit a nerve.

I similary fail to understand how the "media" and the Dims (same difference, IMHO), can continue to call the Vets "liars" and "smearers", when, so far, their airing of the facts has led to sKerry admitting to having lied about Cambodia (which was previously "seared" in his memory, "seared"), to having been the ONLY boat to have turned tail and run when PCF 3 was blown out of the water by a mine (and had his crewmate not fallen overboard, I doubt he would have ever come back), and now, according to a headline on Drudge, he seems to be acknowledging that his first Purple Heart may have been given for a self-inflicted wound. On the other hand, the Vets have not had to retract or alter one iota of their stories.

"...a completely ruthless, calculating, pathological, overly-ambitious liar who will do anything to win the White House."

Oh, for a second there I thought they were referring to Bill Clinton... or Hillary Clinton. Well, OK, to be fair, they could have been referring to just about any democrat in the past 15 years or so.

"Team Bush is already been hurt by Iraq, no WMD, and a still-weak economy..."

Yeah, I guess the 20-year high growth rates (that are nearly twice that of the Europeon Union), unemployment lower than it averaged in 8 years with Klintoon in the White House, means "the worst economy since Herbert Hoover." Give me a break already! It's pretty sad when even Newsmax spouts the liberal propaganda.

God Bless you, and thank you for your service to our beautiful country.

When I hear or read what that feckless, reckless excuse for a man did to you and your fellow Vietnam veterans, it turns my stomach, and makes me cry. I am incredulous that he has the nerve to now ask for your, and all of our, support, to put him in charge of our troops and our country. I am praying, long and hard, that you and your fellow veterans will be the voting bloc that will put him out of contention for that post forever. It would be a fitting payback for what he did to you and your brothers, and for his role in selling our country out to the commies.

I have never been in the military (but my dad was Air Force), but may I say, Semper Fi.
