A strange vanity, JR....most of us can't vote in this race. And, why would any conservative vote for a lib/dem anyway?
In the meantime, I'm not optimistic that the people of Illinois will do the right thing in this case.

Well, there's been a pretty strange debate (a vicious feud actually) running for the last couple weeks on FR between the Keyes supporters and his detractors. Personally, I see it as a no-brainer (I'll hate myself in the morning for using that expression) and don't see what all the fuss is about, but I've been asked to state my position. Here it is. I support Alan Keyes 100% for Senate and oppose Barack Obama 100%.

From another post:
Look whats going on in the GOP:
At the GOP Convention website, they've set up a webpage where ordinary folks like us can give input on what WE think should be the most important issues for the Republican Party this year. To do this, there is a drop-down menu which lists 20 different issues (including "other"). You can click on the issue which is "most important to you". With your input, they say, the party "will be well on our way to defining the GOP vision for America's tomorrows."
Sounds great. But if you look closer, you'll notice there are a few issues missing from the list they provide you to choose from... specifically, the issues that are most important to the GOP's conservative base!
There's no selection for "abortion" or "pro-life". There's no selection for "Second Amendment" or "guns". There's no selection for "immigration". There's no selection for "family" or "marriage". There's no selection for "religious liberty".
WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE THINKING? Without its conservative base, there would be NO Republican Party to begin with!
With Mr. Keyes in the Media constantly, we ARE hearing about these issues, something that I believe is important, not just for Illinois but for the entire Country. Keyes makes this race into a national race and his trouncing of Obama in the media daily and in the debates, will be national wupbutt on the democrats.
I believe its time to line up shoulder to shoulder at the line of scrimmage.
imho

The people of Illinois need all the additional support we can get. This is a way left state with way left media that is all too happy to carry Barack's way left water (Kool-aid?)
This campaign needs all the heads, hands, hearts and wallets it can get!
