[history]
I'll make this short and sweet (kinda like this is your brain, this is your brain on crack - any questions?).
a) Alan Keyes is an America loving, Constitution loving, Liberty loving, pro-life ultra conservative. We'd be ^damned lucky to have him in the Senate if we could get him there.
b) Barack Obama is an America hating, pro-abortion socialist communist. It'll be a dark day for America if he's elected.
Any questions?

By your definition, was Hillary a carpetbagger? RFK? Buy THE definition of the word, Hilary certainly was. RFK, likely, but frankly I will not volunteer my edicts, where I don't know the facts, unlike a few, here.

There is no stopping the ILLINOIS KEYESIAN HORDE. ;-` Time will tell.
The stakes have already been taken.
For now. But you gotta know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em. Let's see where things stand by mid-October.

Calm down, and please reread my post. I'm on your side. :-)
I'm agreeing with you on the "carpetbagger" issue.
I think Keyes is a great pick.

It's just so nice to see conservatism on this board. ;-)

The choice to become a political carpetbagger doesn't occur when the decision is made as to which non-residential race to enter, but whether to enter a non-residential race at all. And this is immoral because?
This is illegal because?

Again, my point, if the proposals and actions advanced by Alan Keyes was from Obama or any other democrat, there would have been a collective "just another case of proof of how the dems/liberals are destroying our country." Because they are advanced by Alan Keyes, certain people have spun, justified and by other means chocolate coated his "cow pie" actions and ideas. Friends, if they are cow pies, no matter how you coat them, they are still cow pies.
Now, that's not to say Obama is the better candidate. But we do need to hold Alan accountable for his actions that are questionable. We would do that with a liberal/democrat or rino. Why not Alan.
To: unspun
Again, he said "never". Does begging negate it?
To: Aquinasfan
Consider the precedent it sets. I really don't want Ben Affleck to move to Wisconsin to run for congress.

Greater than Buckley, Sowell, Will, Schlafly, Steyn, Coulter, Hanson, Gaffney, Malkin, etc.?
Seriously? Sowell is the only one who comes close. Don't know Hanson or Gaffney.
Am I an A-K for even asking?
AK's tend to be preoccupied with Alan's being a non-resident of Illinois and his position regarding reparations, while ignoring his positions on abortion, homosexual marriage, smaller government, etc.

And this is immoral because? This is illegal because?
I said it was "illegal" or "immoral" where...? All I've said is that carpetbagging is carpetbagging. If John Kyl carpetbagged in California, I'd vote for him. If Jim Kolbe did, I wouldn't.

To: Jim Robinson
Thanks, Jim! It really is a "no-brainer." You don't have to love the guy; you just have to realize what is at stake in these elections.
Some folks get so caught up in their personal feuds here on FR that they can't see the forest for the trees.
To: malakhi
Consider the precedent it sets. I really don't want Ben Affleck to move to Wisconsin to run for congress. I don't want him running in his own state either. The point is, the practice of "carpetbagging" is not intrinsically evil. Carpetbagging can be immoral if it's done for purposes of self-aggrandizement, as was the case with Hilary.

It might be easier if Keyes would say he was wrong in 00 about Hillary. And while no Hillary supporter am I, those in her camp would see this as a mission of mercy on her part. It's a matter of perspective.
To: joesbucks
Again, my point, if the proposals and actions advanced by Alan Keyes was from Obama or any other democrat, there would have been a collective "just another case of proof of how the dems/liberals are destroying our country." That could be the case with the reparations issue, if considered on its own. (But not the "carpetbagging issue, as far as I'm concerned.)
My point is that Alan's positions shouldn't be considered in isolation. In that respect, if Alan was a Democrat, I would vote for him in a heartbeat.
