I think he misspoke then. I believe they were tortured when the North Vietnamese played Kerry's senate testimony. I think the pressure of the show got him confused. It happens to regular folks.
He said on this afternoon's Hannity radio show, which was a more detailed interview, that that was a misquote the SF journalist made. He said he was not tortured with Kerry's actual words, but that they were tortured and told they were war criminals, as Kerry had alleged. He did say that Kerry's speech was played over loudspeakers to the POWs.
I don't think so Chief. All he was saying was that the torure was worse while Ho was alive, not that it stopped becuase it didn't. They used Kerry and Fonda as excuses to beat confessions out of them.
Nope, heard him this afternoon. He said he was tortured from the time he was captured. He was held for over six years.
That doesn't mean the tortured stop. It just means they had it slightly less hard after 1969.
He did not say continuously - but referred to 'frequent' - don't remember exactly how he phrased it.
He distinctly said he was tortured until Ho died. Didn't say "continuously."
