ATHENS, Greece - The U.S. womens volleyball players happily trickled off the court, stopping to chat with family and friends and answer questions about how they salvaged their chance at an Olympic medal.
Perhaps a more fitting exit would have had all 12 of them holding hands, because the Americans finally figured out how to play like a team.
Logan Tom scored 19 points to lead the United States to a 25-22, 25-12, 25-19 win over Cuba on Sunday and a spot in the quarterfinals.

Our women are not as favored as China but let's cheer for USA! Come on, let's get behind these great athletes representing the U.S.A. at the first summer Olympics post-9/11. Who saw "Killer" Tom yesterday?

Castro will claim the USA girls illegally "blockaded" the Cuban team.

There's a cool one in the article. Otherwise, I have not advanced to "how to" post photos yet. I'm not a FReep Olympian, just an amateur... haha

She cut her hair, but still...
I'm in love with Olympian Logan Tom from the US and Jodie Henry from Australia.
Sigh.

And it will take him 4 hours to do so.
He went on TV the other day before Charley hit Havana, and spoke for one hour straight about hurricanes, as if he were some kind of meteorology expert. Very short for him.

The U.S. womens volleyball players happily trickled off the court,TOMS was great. I watched the whole thing. It was especially satisfying after the announcers had to tell us more than once about the "political differences" between the two teams, and how the Cubans especially like beating the U.S.
Seriesly funny bonehead announcer alert

You're right, what's scary is that I actually watched that match and didn't realize it. I'm looking forward to the next game which I think is against Brazil.

I saw it too.
I'm dismayed at the names of those poor Cuban girls.
Fidel banned giving children Christian names in the 70's and 80's, hence the absurd use of the "Y" as the beginning of so many names.
