Why?
These men have a visceral hatred for John Kerry and they deserve to speak.
I also don't think Bush saying anything will have any affect on the Swifty's future actions.
Their Speech must withstand the scrutiny of the media and more importantly the people. But we the people need to hear their speech and know they have rights to speek.

I hope W is aware that if he says this directly he is in violation of McCain-Feingold.

It says, "Bush Seeks End to Independent Ads ". It does not specify the SBV's. Anyway, President Bush already called for an end to ALL ads.

Whew! Looks like he is just saying the same thing he has been saying and calling for an end to all 527 group ads. Not sure why Fox has it as a breaking news banner.

It's the right thing to do. They are independents, but maybe they will sit down now. Take the high road.

No worries - I think the Swifties have already said that they will continue no matter who asks them to stop.
GW ain't controlling them or their purse strings.

Haven't seen anything about this but Bush has been calling for an end to these types of ads for quite some time. Didn't he sign a law regarding this? It's gotta be some bs media spin.

I've been watching Fox a couple of hours and I haven't heard that at all.
What he did is repeat his call for all 527's groups to stop running smear ads
The same position he's had all along.

Not stupid. Bush doesn't want the GOP convention and his message diluted or dominated by the Swift Boat question.
BTW, the undefeated US woman's softball team is now getting their golds.

The SBVFT do NOT necessarily support Bush.
Many are Dems.
They just OPPOSE Kerry.
They don't care who you vote for,
or if you don't vote at all,
just don't vote for Kerry.
