A little while ago I was getting my Rush Limbaugh fix while watching the weather channel. Suddenly there was an announcement on the screen on the red line on the bottom about a HUGE thunderstorm from Hialeah to Hollywood with 50 mph windgusts. About a minute later, all I got on WIOD radio was static. So was WIOD knocked off the air by the thunderstorm? And just where are the WIOD studios located?
Better go to wabcradio.com and listen over the net. John O'Neill up next hour...
You can listen online here.

I'm now listening to WJNO Radio. WJNO has a really weak signal but I have a good radio so I can pick it up. I checked again a few minutes ago and WIOD is STILL off the air. Can anyone else in SoFla pick it up?
Our Melbourne, FL station had all sorts of problems in the first hour too. We lost the first 15 minutes of the show and now it sounds like they're using an alternate feed. We are clear of t-storms up here. Could be signs of a larger problem - uplink, downlink, sunspots, etc.
A portable radio is vitally important if you are in an area that gets hit by storms or you have power outages.
I am picking up military conversations on short wave radio that indicate there was a microwave burst in the area, shortly afterward three strange objects were seen in the sky, more later ....
Maybe. WIOD Radio has a HISTORY of incompetence. One time they cut right into Rush when it was particularly interesting to give us live feed from a trial sentencing in San Diego. The only problem was they goofed. After about 10 minutes of the judge talking about inane legal mumbo jumbo, the WIOD manager cut in to admit they made an error. There was NO sentencing then. So they cut off Rush for a court sentencing that didn't happen. STUPID!!!
Have you informed Art Bell of this development?
wabcradio.com stream is working great for me. Thanks!
If you're online with a decent connection, join Rush 24/7. That's where I am.
Right now I'm listening to Rush on another station. Every time there is lightning there is a loud static sound. So severe now that I am getting a static burst every 2 or 3 seconds. I was going to do something outside but have put that off. Even if no rain, I want to avoid the lightning.
Wow, take care with your computer. Hope you have a surge protector on your main line into your home and another on your computer.
I'd suggest you turn off your computer. And make sure you turn off your monitor as well--I fried my monitor last summer when lightning hit very near our house.
where exactly is WIOD?
Any more news on this microwave burst?
I turned it off AND pulled the plug. The weather is OK now so it is safe. BTW, WIOD Radio is back on the air. Unfortunately Schnitt is now the talk host. Hopefully, Schnitt will be gone after Aug. 31 which he has hinted at.
