WASHINGTON - Former Sen. Bob Dole joined Vietnam Swift boat vets who question John Kerry's combat heroics, claiming yesterday the Democratic presidential candidate's three Purple Hearts got him out of the war - but without a scratch.Dole, a Kansas Republican who was horribly wounded in Italy during World War II and who lost his own presidential bid in 1996, said his "good friend" and "hero" Kerry embellished his war experiences.
"I respect his record, but three Purple Hearts and [Kerry] never bled that I know of," Dole told CNN's "Late Edition." "I mean, they're all superficial wounds."
Dole also faulted Kerry for post-Vietnam comments about military atrocities. "Maybe [Kerry] should apologize to all the other 2.5million veterans who served," Dole said.
The continued carping over Kerry's heroism appears to be taking a toll on his children.
"I just have the question of which wound do you want to see? Which scar do you need to see to prove that my father served?" Vanessa Kerry told CBS' "Face the Nation."
Last week, Kerry slammed President Bush - who has not condemned ads by the anti-Kerry group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth - for allowing supporters to do his "dirty work."
Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman again denied that the campaign has any ties to the Swift boat spots, but hours earlier, Bush-Cheney veterans adviser Ken Cordier, who was in one of the ads, resigned.
Among other revelations touted by Kerry aides decrying the GOP "smear campaign" were reports that party leaders in Minnesota and Florida promoted the anti-Kerry group's ads with flyers and on the Web.
There also were signs that the critics' stories, while clearly hurting Kerry, are showing cracks under scrutiny. Several veterans who personally witnessed Kerry's heroics have recently come forward for the first time to defend him, and official documents also cast serious doubt on the claims of cowardice.
When "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace thrust several after-action combat reports at longtime Kerry critic Van O'Dell, the ex-gunner's mate admitted he lacks proof on paper that his former superior fabricated his deeds. "I do not have a single document," he replied. "Just seven eyewitness accounts."

We know he served, dear. The question is did he lie?
And no, we don't want to see his scars (especilly no the one on his a...er.. buttocks. We just want to see his records.
That your father did, in fact, "serve" is scarcely at issue here, Vanessa, my poppet.
On which SIDE he served, on the other hand... :)

LOL!
To prove her father SERVED in VietNam.
She's as dumb as he is.

None of them, sweety. Just the medical records is fine. By the way, does he know how "French" it is to send women out to defend him?

Erm... the one in the But-Tox ???
or is it Bo-Tox?
Run Forest Run! (for the Whitehouse)
The acorn doesn't fall very far from the tree, does it?
Vanessa Kerry. Which one is she? The who showed the whole world her breasts in France, or the one who looks like a hatchet with blond hair?
Several?
I suppose we'll find out who they are about the same time we'll get to review JF'nK's military records.
And if he did - was the blood BLUE.... ?
"Face the Nation" should be renamed to "Get Your Daughter to Face the Nation"
Could someone please post this article/interview with Kerry/Edwards and the plan for Iraq and more. Interview by Inkeep at Redstate site. "The disengagement" By: tacitus
Ed. note: This is part one of a two-part piece both parts at site. http://www.redstate.org/story/2004/8/7/123128/4371 Thankyou all
Anybody listen to Drudge last night? I had the radio on in the background and wasn't listening too much until I heard him say something about getting Kerry to drop his drawers and show us his scar.
I didn't catch the context of the conversation, but now that his daughter's bringing it up, maybe it's a good idea, LOL.
Dole asks for an apology for 2.5 million vets. Did any strategist on the Kerry campaign ever splain to John F'n that you can't alienate 2.5 million people, plus their families, then trash the National guard(and their families). Don't know the multiple here, but that's a high number of people to trash and hope to win an election. Keep up the good work John.
Vanessa, buttercup, {in the spirit of us calling her poppet and dear}, stay on the porch and let the big dogs go with this one. You don't want Bob Dole AKA Uncle Bob going medieval on your darling little butt now do you?
The hatchet.
You don't understand. The strategy now is to say the Kerry served in Nam while Bush (like Clinton) did not. Now dishonorable service in Nam trumps honorable service on US soil, and Guard service is equated to draft dodging. Only from the mind of a 'Rat.
I sure don't want to see the "rice/*ss wound on Kerry!
