Kerry Showing Signs of Meltdown?

The Kerry campaign closed out last week in full flail. And according to one source close to the campaign, the candidate is really starting to feel the heat. With looming questions about the integrity of his service in Vietnam dominating the narrative of the 2004 campaign, Democrat nominee John Kerry is in full battle mode against the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. In addition to the highly orchestrated smear campaign against the vets being run out of the Democrat National Committee, the Kerry campaign and the DNC has also produced a blizzard of legal threats toward television stations who are running the Swiftees television commercials, bookstores that carry their best-selling book Unfit for Command and against the Bush campaign and the Swiftees themselves for what the Kerry campaign insist is an illegal, coordinated attack against America’s most liberal Senator.

But for all the legal harassment and public scorn dumped on the Swiftees, it is Kerry himself who is nervous about the outcome of this increasingly nasty dispute. And it’s starting to show behind the scenes.

A source close to the Kerry campaign and the Democrat National Committee told crushkerry.com that John Kerry spent the better part of last week fighting with his political and legal advisors about how best to handle the Swiftees. His key political advisors did not want to confront the controversy head on, as Kerry has, for fear that it would draw further attention to charges of lies, fabrication and war crimes.

“There were several conference calls and a couple of meetings. Everyone was screaming. I would consider it the low point of the campaign,” our source told us. “By taking the Vets on, John Kerry thinks he’s demonstrating bravery. But it’s a horrible mistake, politically.”

Kerry also battled with his lawyers all week, insisting they distribute threatening letters to bookstores. According to our source, the Kerry legal team thought this, too, would be a mistake with a big risk of backfire.

“Look, bookstores aren’t going to stop selling this book because John Kerry wants them to,” our source told us. “From what I understand, John Kerry made the lawyers send these letters out. Kerry ordered it personally! I mean, we just look desperate.”

Our source also told us that several political advisors argued strenuously against threatening the bookstores and television stations, again fearing they would simply draw attention to the charges.

When asked if they expected anything to come out of the Kerry campaign’s complaint to the FEC against the Bush campaign and the Swiftees, our source was not optimistic. “Those complaints are pretty much pro forma. The Bush people have filed dozens of complaints against us and the 527’s.” our source stated.

When asked if they thought the campaign had overreacted and mismanaged the issue, our source said yes.

“The original plan was to let the press handle it [the controversy, on behalf of the Kerry campaign],” our source told us. “But John Kerry has gone off the deep end. He wants to personally discredit these guys. I don’t know if what they’re saying about him is true, but they have touched a big nerve with him. There is a lot of bad blood there.”

Why would a source close to the Kerry campaign tell crushkerry.com anything? I'm not that gullible.

Nothing unusual here at all. The owner of crushkerry.com works for one of the Republican political consulting firms. It's not usual for someone in his position to have contacts in the other camp. Politics makes strange bedfellows.

Yep. It's John Kerry vs. Decorated American war veterans and POW's.

You are the DOOFFUUUUS who is causing lots of trees to be processed into paper so that more books can be sold by John O'Neill. GO SWIFTIES. Hope you are on Forbes list of really rich men come 2005.!!

Love the dead beaver shot.

This time if Kerry shoots himself in the foot, there is no Purple Heart for his efforts, is there?

I have been waiting for that request myself!

The only reason why I can think of for why John O'Neil hasn't been demanding Kerry to sign a 180 Form is because he hasn't released all of their planned Ad's :-)

"Who is Kerry's attack dog that I saw on TV today, he looks like a ferret and he snarls his nose. Kind of a freaky looking dude...", you asked.

That would be Tad "Snarling Upper Right Lip" Devine. The more his spin is challenged, the more desperate he becomes, the higher the snarling lip goes.

I don't know his title but he's a high up muckety muck in the Kerry campaign, and he's had a rough week. The anchors are beginning to challenge him, and several times, he's had to back-track mid spin. He is one bad dude on a good day.

Today on MTP, up against a really good Bush spokesman, Devine had to resort to tricks to try and throw his opponent off-stride. He would almost laugh out loud as the Bush guy spoke, but you could tell he was very nervous.

' This is actually the denial stage. He can't believe this is happening to his world and he's lashing out, blaming everyone else. '

I agree.
The press has been Kerry's enabler for 36 years.
No one has ever questioned him before-and gotten away with it.
The press was always able to step in and stop any questions.
Kerry has lost control of the situation-he must be in shock that he is unable to quash the debate.
Now, his shipmates from the USS Gridley are saying that Kerry has created a fantasy about their times aboard ship.
Serious questions have to be asked about Kerry's mental health .
He's lived in a fantasy world for all these decades and now the foundation of Kerry's whole life is crumbling- ie: that he was a war hero.
Kerry has either known for decades that he was lying or he was under the illusion that his fantasies were true.
You have to wonder if the shock of being exposed could cause him to decompensate either mentally or physically or both.

That would be Tad Devine. He's the guy who got his boss, John Effin' Kerry mixed up with Bob Kerrey last week, when talking about Senate Intelligence committee.

Why not just order all anti-Kerry books burned in the public square? Hail Hitler!

Actually .. since the dems have attacked Bob Dole .. from Bob's performance today, I would suspect Bob will be blowing Kerry's senate career open all by himself.

find it hard to believe that crushkerry.com has a point of contact inside the kerry campaign.

Actually, the mole could be one of the vets who are supposedly "supporting" him. A lot of vets are mad at Kerry, what's to say one of them isn't so mad he's pretending to be a supporter in order to get the inside info?
