Kerry Showing Signs of Meltdown?

The Kerry campaign closed out last week in full flail. And according to one source close to the campaign, the candidate is really starting to feel the heat. With looming questions about the integrity of his service in Vietnam dominating the narrative of the 2004 campaign, Democrat nominee John Kerry is in full battle mode against the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. In addition to the highly orchestrated smear campaign against the vets being run out of the Democrat National Committee, the Kerry campaign and the DNC has also produced a blizzard of legal threats toward television stations who are running the Swiftees television commercials, bookstores that carry their best-selling book Unfit for Command and against the Bush campaign and the Swiftees themselves for what the Kerry campaign insist is an illegal, coordinated attack against America’s most liberal Senator.

But for all the legal harassment and public scorn dumped on the Swiftees, it is Kerry himself who is nervous about the outcome of this increasingly nasty dispute. And it’s starting to show behind the scenes.

A source close to the Kerry campaign and the Democrat National Committee told crushkerry.com that John Kerry spent the better part of last week fighting with his political and legal advisors about how best to handle the Swiftees. His key political advisors did not want to confront the controversy head on, as Kerry has, for fear that it would draw further attention to charges of lies, fabrication and war crimes.

“There were several conference calls and a couple of meetings. Everyone was screaming. I would consider it the low point of the campaign,” our source told us. “By taking the Vets on, John Kerry thinks he’s demonstrating bravery. But it’s a horrible mistake, politically.”

Kerry also battled with his lawyers all week, insisting they distribute threatening letters to bookstores. According to our source, the Kerry legal team thought this, too, would be a mistake with a big risk of backfire.

“Look, bookstores aren’t going to stop selling this book because John Kerry wants them to,” our source told us. “From what I understand, John Kerry made the lawyers send these letters out. Kerry ordered it personally! I mean, we just look desperate.”

Our source also told us that several political advisors argued strenuously against threatening the bookstores and television stations, again fearing they would simply draw attention to the charges.

When asked if they expected anything to come out of the Kerry campaign’s complaint to the FEC against the Bush campaign and the Swiftees, our source was not optimistic. “Those complaints are pretty much pro forma. The Bush people have filed dozens of complaints against us and the 527’s.” our source stated.

When asked if they thought the campaign had overreacted and mismanaged the issue, our source said yes.

“The original plan was to let the press handle it [the controversy, on behalf of the Kerry campaign],” our source told us. “But John Kerry has gone off the deep end. He wants to personally discredit these guys. I don’t know if what they’re saying about him is true, but they have touched a big nerve with him. There is a lot of bad blood there.”

Well he said people who get Purple Hearts usually bleed a bit .. contrasted his Senate time as "light" with Vietnam time as "confused". Said JK should apologise for his antiwar accusations etc.
Good old time Dole zingers (he also called for full record release).

Honestly, many of them probably do not want to sign one . . . nor should they have to, but you can bet that will be Kerry and the MSM's next move. We'll sign ours if they all sign theirs. Distract. Obfuscate. Manipulate.

"What did Bob Dole do/say today?"

Bob went on with Wolfie Blitzer and basically said "I told Kerry making Vietnam a big focus would bite him in the ass." He also said he thought 3 purple hearts and no time spent in the hospital was pretty weak. Dole was a star for us today!!!

Kerry has never had to run a serious campaign against real opposition, and it shows. He has run only in Mass. where voter registration is two-to-one rat versus pubbie. I figured this might prove to be a problem for Kerry, and it has, it really has. Kerry just isn't a well-seasoned politician. He hasn't needed to be, until now.

Maybe I'm just tired, but I am getting an uneasy feeling. The polls still show Mr. Bush behind in electoral votes. I expect that will change much for the better. And I'm enjoying watching Kerry's "meltdown." But I remember Clinton (just look at his face on the ad for Barr's "The Meaning of Is"), and how he seemed to be 'defeated." Mission isn't accomplished, and I'm trying to think what my next task will need to be.

These swift boat vets have really let the wind out of Kerry's sails and poked a hole in his boat to boot. Presumptuous little twit should have never used Vietnam as the centerpiece of his campaign. I guess he figured his comrades had forgotten, or at least that they wouldn't notice or wouldn't care. Whatever he thought, it is abundantly obvious that the swiftboat veterans blindsided him. Kerry's going down, despite the media efforts to prop up his pompous corpse.

I think its pretty obvious what that means! The Democrats always depend on the mindless "Katie Courics" of the journalistic world to spread their disingenuous garbage.

If the info is true you make a good point. But even if the info IS true remember theold adage, " whatever doesn't kill me, makes me stronger." A possible outcme is a more battle ready Kerry.

Yaya, you're not kidding about your link being great information. Here's a short quote from it:

***We're always running into those guys," says a Kerry campaign volunteer in Washington, about MoveOn.org staffers. "We socialize with them, we see them at meetings, we can't avoid it. And of course we talk about the campaign. In some cities, we get our volunteers from MoveOn. No one has ever raised an issue about it."***

Who is Kerry's attack dog that I saw on TV today, he looks like a ferret and he snarls his nose. Kind of a freaky looking dude...

You're gonna have to be more specific: name a network and a time slot, because virtually every liberal "journalist" out there is foaming at the mouth, acting shamelessly defensive of Kerry, yelling "So's your mama!" and "Bush is being weally mean!" and yada, yada, yada...It's truly embarassing that they've become transparent shills for the Party.

Someone should inform Kerry that he may have one or more moles on his staff. That would probably be the final straw for Kerry's sanity.

I'm willing to bet that he does have a mole or two. And it wouldn't surprise me that they're trusted Viet Nam Vets as another poster implied.
