Riiight. A new twist on the devil made me do it.
I don't see how one can hold a 12-year-old who is on powerful synthetic mind-altering drugs responsible for his behavior. It's the parents who should be facing the murder charges.
any psychiatric drug can cause problems if it is misprescribed. for example, if you give an antidepressant to someone with bipolar disorder, it can wreak havoc.
however, the problem is not necessarily the fault of the drug.
also, many psychotics and sociopaths have probably been put on antidepressants at some point. if they kill someone, does that mean the drug made them do it?
overall, these drugs have saved many lives. however, trial lawyers dont't care about that.
Here in Fla. we had a punk kid, Brancachio who viciously and for no reason beat to death an old lady while on medication. His attornies tried to say it was the drugs fault.
B.S., I spoke to my son who was in the same school and he said this branchahio kid was always nuts and a bully.
He was convicted of murder and sent to jail where he belongs even though his folks became rich due to winning the lottery and spent a sizeable fortune on his defence.
In the North east liberal justice will probably give this guy weekends at a psych institute.
