O'Neill Dares Kerry: 'Sue Me'

Swiftboat Veterans for the Truth spokesman John O'Neill dared Sen. John Kerry on Sunday to sue him for libel if, as Kerry's presidential campaign maintains, key claims in O'Neill's book "Unifit for Command" are not true.

"I invite him to sue me for libel," O'Neill, who co-authored the overnight bestseller with Jerome Corsi, told WABC Radio's Monica Crowley. "If he was actually in Cambodia on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day he should sue me. If, in fact, those other five [Swift]boats, on March the 13, [1969], if they all fled like he did, instead of staying like he knows they did, he should sue me."

O'Neill continued:

"If he didn't wound himself with a grenade - causing sort of a rice-fanny wound - and then reported it to the Navy as a water mine - if he didn't do that on March 13th should sue me."

O'Neill issued the challenge after noting that Kerry's campaign has gone to extraordinary lengths to supress the information in "Unfit for Command."

"On our first [Swiftvet] ad, he had two huge lawfirms send letters to every [TV] station, threatening to sue the stations themselves" if they ran the ad, the former Swiftboat commander told Crowley.

"The next thing he did was challenge the book's publisher, Regnery, indicating he would sue them if they continued printing the book," he added.

The bestselling author said that while Regnery declined to stop printing "Unfit," it offered to republish Kerry's 1971 book "The New Soldier," which chronicles the top Democrat's anti-war protests with a group bankrolled by Jane Fonda.

Kerry has declined to have "New Solidier" republished over the years and reportedly bought up most of the available copies in 1972, after his opponent in a congressional race used it to paint him as anti-American.

O'Neil could strike first on the lawsuit front.

O'Neill is very, very impressive. America owes him and the other Swift Boat vets a huge debt. Heroes, indeed, every one.

"Kerry won't sue O'Neil.
He'd rather just keep demanding Bush tell O'Neil to shut-up"

It's a chilling insight into what Kerry plans to do as President...he apparently thinks a president should have the power and authority to command independent citizens to shut up. This jerk is dangerous!

Off subject, but is anyone else having a problem with photos on FR? Just today everytime there is a picture with a post I get the white square with the red cross in it.

Any thoughts on how to fix?

I, for one, think I'll leave it up to the SBVs to make their play, the way they want to. They've waited for some 30 years to address the slandering of their honor.

"They don't care is their commercial hurt or help President Bush"

I didn't hear O'Neill say that, but I did hear him say that even if the President called him and personally requested him to pull the ads .. O'Neill said .. "I would not".

In real court. The FEC had already said they'd do nothing
about the 527s before the election anyway. This is all PR.

In the court of public opinion, Kerry weighs each by its
PR value. A libel suit might have more, or at least
additional PR value. If they thought that boat would
float until at least 02 Nov, they'd have launched it.

I just saw this ad yesterday, it's killer!

please http://stopjohn.com/movies/powmia-affair.htm

Also good:
http://kerryquotes.com/video/metrospy_warhero.swf

I am behind the Swiftees 100%. They have answered every vicious volley thus far, in a respectful, direct and factual way. I do not understand why people persist on calling their effort some political hit job, when what they are really doing, is exposing the real John Kerry, a man who is NOT for all of the people, nor on America's team. He used his service for access and pursuit of a political career. He used the POW's for his lefty agenda. Those POW's were not Pubs or Dems, they were AMERICANS. He has exploited every aspect of his 'service' and came to somehow believe that he could USE his Veteran status to ward off legitimate concerns as a MAN of Character. This man neither upheld his commitment to his Military contract, to his buddies, to our country, to their safety while still in country. Neither has Kerry upheld his promise to uphold the constitution of the US. Kerry has simply never followed through on a promise made to America.. and people want to trust him now?

The Swiftie's are, men AGAIN defending their country from the kind of pain Kerry caused upon his return. America LOVING Patriots, doing what the MSM should've been doing all along. God Love them.

if he sued, he would have to testify under oath, which would be a john kerry nightmare.

Claiming Kerry is a traitor is subjective.

The SBV's claims are about actual facts. They were there .. they witnessed the actions.

While we may believe Kerry is a traitor, proving it is a whole nother ballgame.
