New book criticizes President (Buchanan again!)
Fort Worth Star- Telegram ^ | 8/23/2004 | David Kirkpatrick

Patrick Buchanan, the conservative commentator whose Republican primary challenge and divisive convention speech weakened the first President Bush's campaign for re-election in 1992, is publishing a book excoriating the second President Bush over the invasion of Iraq, just in time to grab a share of the limelight at another Republican convention.

In Where the Right Went Wrong, released late last week, Buchanan calls the invasion of Iraq "the greatest strategic blunder in 40 years, a mistake more costly than Vietnam. If prudence is the mark of a conservative, Mr. Bush has ceased to be a conservative," Buchanan wrote. The release of the book, which coincides with the Republican National Convention, gives Buchanan occasion to lay out his case on television and in book promotions just as the Bush campaign seeks to project an image of unity, reviving unhappy memories of the disruptive role Buchanan has played in the past.

"He has a following in conservative circles," said Paul Weyrich, a veteran conservative organizer. "It is not what it once was just because the religious right is not particularly enamored with him. But it is going to have an effect. In a very close election, criticism from anybody who is credible is going to have an effect."

In an interview, however, Buchanan said publishing a book during the campaign was the best way he knew to inject what he considers important ideas into the debate. "The reason I wanted it out now is, it addresses big issues that are not being addressed in this campaign: the massive and growing deficit, the disintegration of the culture and a Wilsonian foreign policy that means war ad infinitum," he said.

Exactly. It's an inferiority complex acted out on a global scale.

"Get the book. Read it. Judge for yourself."

Don't waste the money...real toilet paper is cheaper, is far softer and doesn't enrich that pathetic old arse.

Still, I will always maintain that the dust covers make excellent urinal cakes.

"I wonder if you people would have voted for Clinton if he was a Republican. "

If Clinton were a Republican he would never have won his first primary. There's are reasons why the vast majority of conservatives and Republicans support President Bush. Just because he's not good enough for you doesn't mean he's not still very good.

buchanan had the chance to sail off into the sunset as an American conservative icon; a lot of people did have a level of respect for him.

Fortunately for America, buchanan's true nature revealed itself and he will now be remembered for exactly what he was...a self serving, greedy, pathetic and bitter hack.

Me, too. Unfortunately, subs don't stay in for very long.

I'm not complaining though. At this point, a few days would make me happy.

Just pray buchanan and his likes aren't successful in electing Kerry. I hate to think of what the military will have to confront under him.

Oh yes, I think disruption and in-party hemorrhaging
are just thee thang during an election, provided it
happens to the other side.

Patster just wants attention and will happily do his part to defeat POTUS.

"If it's overstated then why is just about everyone on this thread foaming at the mouth?"

People don't like Pat Buchanan for various reasons. They view him as the cause of the 92 debacle, and they are embarrassed by his ties to Holocaust deniers. As I said earlier, because of his connections to Fascists, he is the worst type of Conservative, one who proselytizes more to the Left because of his rhetoric than to the Right. Buchanan is, w/ good cause, repugnant to the Jewish community, and symbolic of the wall between the GOP and natural Jewish allies who should see that they have a better home in the GOP than in the DNC. If you have a problem w/ Israel and Judaism, so be it. Most Christians (and I'm talking evangelical Christians) don't, and they wish to strengthen the bonds (political and religious) between Christianity and Judaism.

Having said that, I'm GLAD he's writing an anti-Bush book. I think it can benefit Bush when the nutcases tied to extremist groups like the Institute for Historical Research storm out of the party. Buchanan bashing Bush does more to bring voters to Bush than he would by endorsing him. It's a good thing when the David Dukes of the world lambasts the GOP.

As far 3rd parties and all that, we have to live in the reality that either Bush or Kerry will be elected. This is not fantasy land where the Constitutional Party or the Green Party is going to become president. Maybe some day in the future a 3rd party might put together a viable threat, but not this year. Step out of the subjunctive mood of woulda, coulda, mighta and into the indicative mood of did, is, and will be. Whoever you vote for, it is going to advance either the election of Bush or Kerry. Bush is imperfect. His fiscal policy and worse, his inability to articulate a defense of and to persuade others to his policies, leave a lot to be desired. He has shot himself in the foot w/ his stupid budget deficit that prevented the economy from reaching full employment under his watch, and might cost him the election. But no one will ever be perfect unless God runs for President. Holding out for an ideal President in a democratic system where literally millions are trying to make their leader in his or her own image is foolhardy, and again, pretending that the subjunctive mood has any bearing on reality. Presidential candidates are, unfortunately, going to be the lowest common denominator candidates who desperately try to hold together a variety of single issue coalitions that are oftentimes at odds w/ each other. This is the reality we are in.

But Kerry is infinitely worse. A Kerry cabinet would be a disaster for our foreign policy and our fiscal policy. Ramsey Clarke Sec of Def. Michael Moore Sec of State. George Soros Sec of Finance. Jimmy Carter CIA director. I'm being a bit facetious, but people who THINK like the aforementioned names will be in power. Kerry will have to pay off those reprehensible MoveOn.org types that helped to put him in power. Someone who thinks that Bush = Hitler as Attorney General? Yeah, THEN we'd be safe from terrorists...

Bush is a decent man w/ a sound moral code, and he is at least in the ballpark when it comes to correct economic philosophy. Kerry is a disaster, and the Left is a disaster across the board.

Hi.

David Duke here for America United. You know it's not too early to start your Christmas shopping. If you're like all of us you probably have someone on your shopping list who's very difficult to buy for. Your sisters Skin Head son, crazy uncle Ed in his brown shirt...or that silly second cousin of yours married to your first cousin's father's uncle.

Well there's good news. Just in time for the Holidays, and the election, I'm proud to announce that pat buchanan has just published his latest book of anti-Bush hatred, "What Went Wrong With The Right After They Refused To Make Me Emperor".

Image the look of glee on that little anarchists face when he unwraps his present and see's pat's fat smiling face! "Wow...this is great."

And if you act now, for just another $50 contribution to the elect John Kerry campaign, you can get a personally autographed copy of pat buchanan's book.

Just in time for the holidays...more hate from America's favorite POS.

I thought about that the other day. I don't know that I'd want my husband to stay in if Kerry was CINC. I am concerned that Kerry will validate the power of the ICC and members of our military could be tried for "war crimes".

sinkspur praises Buchanan: Buchanan as host of "Scarborough Country": Better than Scarborough

Buchanan was excellent that night...his first useful performance in a decade or more.

But detesting Kerry's lies does not make Buchanan right on anything else.

It was like Buchanan had taken a night off from being an isolationist antisemitic paleocon with a scant grasp on reality.

Kerry would not hesitate to sell our people in uniform out. He didn't before and he won't again.

Look at his history. He spent four months in Vietnam and years trashing the Vietnam veterans. Today he's wrapping himself in his Vietnam uniform and again trashing the Vietnam vets.

Kerry is dangerous. Those who support him, directly or indirectly like the third parties, are just as dangerous.

Hi David Duke,

Michael Moore here.

On behalf of America-hating Leftists for Kerry (he's one of our own you know)
I want to thank you for your ringing endorsement of Comrade Patster's new tome.

If we have to buy the copies ourselves, we will do just that to insure the book's success on the NYT's best seller list... our paper of record.

LOL!

It really speaks volumes about one's conservative values when one of their idols (buchanan) can't be distinquished from Jim McDermott, Hillary Clinton or Michael Moore.
