Cyncooper and Everyone:

I urge you all to open this link and read the actual transcript of what transpired between Bush and McCain during the exchange that is shown in Kerry's ad.

It is FAR different than is being portrayed. Kerry's ad is giving 1/4 of the story and dishonestly at that.

I was never surprised about at any of LBJ's shenanigans. I still suspect he had something to do with JFK's assassination. The man was dirty politics, with really dirty political friends personified.

I haven't read the transcript yet, but I think even if it had been in context McCain absolutely should not be allowing himself to be used by the Kerry Kamp.

I am going to demand that McCain instruct them to stop using his likeness in a Kerry/Edwards ad.

It is beyond the pale and I don't know what he'll do (the man is unpredictable), but I am going to call daily unless and until he does.

It is not to be borne, allowing himself used in a Kerry for president ad like that and deceitfully, to boot.

I most certainly will point out to his staff that one of the POWs in the new Swift Vet ad was chairman of "McCain for President 2000" in Virginia, and I'm going to inform them I expect McCain to throw his allegiance to THAT fine man and to President Bush and to stop allowing the Kerry team to lie about a Bush affiliation with the Swift Vets.

Thanks for link.

On LBJ's first senate run, He was up against a Conservative democrat sitting senator, (Coke Stevens).
Coke Stevens was ahead in the primary vote until the border counties came in with more votes than population.
The ballot boxes then were lost.

Agreed and agreed and agreed!!!

I will call his office tomorrow, cyncooper. We need to remind others to do likewise using that link.

I've seen McCain a few times in person during the 2000 debates and it's obvious he has problems. Because of that I've given him a break...his years in captivity have damaged him as they would most of us.

But enough is enough. To allow the DNC to use an ad of our Republican Senator and not show the full context is a lie in itself and despicable of McCain and now the gloves are off and he won't be receiving any more breaks from me. (Not that he'll care. Hah!)

What I really wish we'd start talking about is Kerry's Senate record.

Patience. After the Convention, and the Swift Vets won't be leading the charge on that one, except perhaps on the POW issue. That issue could generate splatter on McCain as well, which might explain his going to bat for Kerry against the SwiftVetsForTruth.

Yep. Dole's Service Record is awsome.

I saw where some liberal news gimp tried to claim that he just got a scratch on his leg. I guess that gimp never noticed that Sen. Dole has no use of his arm.

He got that wound saving a buddy.

10th Mountain Div. "Climb To Glory"

Anybody ever had the 10th Mountain Div. Wine.
A pal of mine was 10th Mountain up until a couple of years ago. So he is allowed to order it. It is from a vinyard owned by a 10th Mountain WW2 vet. It is a great wine.

The label on the bottle has the Crossed Bayonets on it.

Just read the transcript excerpt that puts it in context. As always, GWB is supportive of McCain's experience as a vet as he honors all veterans.

I see when the shoe is on the other foot, McCain says his supporter (Rudman in that case) is "entitled to his opinion".

Well, I guess these Swift Vets are, too, Senator McCain. And you can be sure when I call their office I will have that transcript in front of me, too.

"I just read a post by some democrats calling these guys "lying whores" and "how dare they question a war hero like John Kerry".

Where, here at FR?

I remember when Bob Dole was campaigning for presidency, and he stumbled and fell off of the stage. The dems and the media laughed...hehe, so funny. I wanted to rip their heads off.

What we need to ask McCain is when he's going to stand up for his fellow POWs and his fellow Vietnam vets. Why is he allowing them to be slandered AGAIN by Kerry?

#47..Bill Nelson wouldn't know the truth if it splatted him in the face!

I can say this.....I've been a Florida voter for 30 years, and Bill Nelson (unfortunately) is from my county!

I knew him when.....and he fooled a lot of people.

The word, disingenous, was coined just for him!

How right you are - this election won't be about what one did in Viet Nam - it should be about "what have you done for me lately"...and on that Kerry falls pitifully short!

So McCain is entitled to have someone stand by him who calls Christians bigots.

But Bush isn't entitled to have someone stand by him who questions military service of a veteran.

It's a no-win argument for McCain and I can now see how he has so infuriated freepers and others. It's a strange game he plays and I'm not sure what he gains by it except television exposure by the leftists.

If he wants to be a tool to the left at the expensive of his POW brothers who are being demeaned AGAIN, with his help this time, so be it.

Bob Doles miltary bio. God belss him and those like him.

Wow! Dole waited longer (9 hours) to see a doctor with a wound that should have killed him, than Kerry did to get the Bandaid treatment for his first Purple Heart. Let's see the Kerry Kamp try to slime Bob Dole!

I understand and I don't denigrate any service, since one never knows what will happen anywhere/anytime.Training alone is dangerous, IMO.

However, I have been having some running battles w/people who use their military service in peacetime to one-up anyone else on the subject of Kerry's *service*.The VN vets seem to recognize Kerry's *type*.

I am an older woman and these are men young enough to be my sons and the degree of invective that comes out when these topics are discussed are rather shocking. In my experience, military service usually teaches respect and civility, at least in public, to women and to seniors.

I never have resorted to ad hominum w/these people and have provided MSM sources, only to be told off in expletives and then informed that they served and know better than anyone.
