British shoe bomber Richard Reid is suing US prison authorities over his harsh prison conditions.
The Londoner is being helid in a maximum security jail in Colorado for attempting to blow up an American Airlines flight in December 2001.
But he has appealed to a judge to be allowed the "same rights and privileges as other inmates" at the prison.
Reid is trying to end his isolation and lack of access to Arabic-language religious books.
In May, prison authorities told the inmate he had been placed on special administrative measures.
These restricted his access to letters, the media, telephone and visitors.
A federal prison official told him it was because "there is a substantial risk that your communications or contacts with persons could result in death or serious bodily injury."
In his case, Reid, 31, said his cell had a window but he could not see out of it.
He was given a life sentence for attempting to use explosives in his shoe to blow up a transatlantic flight from Paris to Miami.
But do you know his handle in Vietnam?
Ever since this loser tried to blow up a plane using his shoes, we've all had to remove our shoes while we pass through security.
What I want to know is:
"Where the heck is the bra-bomber?"
Humor aside, you may be able to smuggle a half-pound of explosives in your shoes, but imagine how much C4 you could pack in a bra...
I was just traveling this weekend, had to take my shoes off in security, and thought to myself that I hoped this guy was getting a good beating wherever he was. At the very least I hope he gets sentenced to take his shoes on/off 10k times a day.
How did Jeff Goldblume's picture get in this article???
I know this is posted half in jest, but this is the man who is personally responsible for shoe removal in airports. When you consider how many people have to do squirrely things in airports due to this man, this person is responsible for general inconvenience and long security lines. I vote that an appropriate punishment be a baseball bat to the head for every person that has to remove and put their shoes on because of this man. As a business traveller I would be hitting more home runs than Barry Bonds.
I feel like going to England and beating up his parents.
I'm sure the Aryan Brotherhood and the 1%ers could use a new punching bag
"Hearts and Flowers" on a small, if not smallest, violin in the world!
