President Bush has described John Kerry's service in Vietnam as "noble," yet he's letting supporters wage a highly effective campaign to discredit the same service with accusations that Kerry faked his way to some heavy medals.

I wonder if the author of this piece thinks Bush should have had the Swiftees arrested for exercising their first amendment rights.

"Come to think of it, political candidates should live by the following standard: If you're not willing to say something yourself, don't let anyone else say it for you".

This entire "dribble” is pure tripe, but this passage stands out shouting, "Even I can't believe I wrote this line"!

klintoon destroyed this standard, then borrowed a chipper/shredder from Saddam, and minced the pieces that were left.

BTW when will Teresa release her complete tax returns. The "mainstream" media seems to have forgotten this little matter.

An important point. The NYT's has not done a relationship study of the 527's that are "supporting" Kerry. The same type of analysis, if properly done, would be even more incriminating.

If the Kerry campaign is advocating empowering the FEC to do "fishing expeditions" on 527's they might not like the final result.

As the old saying goes "People who live in glass houses..."

Yep. They want only liberal 527's to have a monopoly. Free speech for right-wingers be damned.

Isn't that wonderful that President Bush is a President not a Tyrant like Hanoi john wants to be and is. President Bush has to win and I'm voting for him to help all I can and telling others to do the same.

" don't let anyone else say it for you"

Tyranny.

No one may speak unless with a government permit.

You peons, you slime of the dunghill -- SILENCE!

Only the brazen may run for office.

The second Bush might do anything to stop or hush the Vets, the new headlines will be:

Bush Crushes Freedom of Speech!
Bush Silences Viet Nam Vets!
Bush Wages War on Military!

I have read Unfit for Command and volumes of other material from the Boston Globe and Tour of Duty. What I find interesting is how the Xmas in Cambodia issue has grabbed the media's attention almost more than anything else. I guess it is the fact that Kerry's own words are his greatest enemy. I bet O'Neill never figured that this issue would have such resonance.

When are these folks going to admit that it is illegal for GWB to say anything about the Swift Boat Vets ads?

It's just disgusting. The left has been ecstatic about Moveon, M. Moore, etc. Now they have their collective panties in a bind because an independent group has dared to say something negative against their campaign to 'retake America'.

Little children. That's all I see of the left. They've been on a four year temper tantrum, kicking and screaming.

While both committed treason, at least General Arnold was a genuine American War Hero before his treason. He was one of our best Generals.

I never knew that.. thanks!

Kerry is beneath Benedict Arnold!

Kerry is beneath Benedict Arnold!

Far beneath - he’s right down there with Simon Girty, except Girty didn't lie as much.

Just so there's no confusion, The swiftees claims are "in large measure lacking credibility", however, John Kerry merely has a "propensity to exaggerate".

The Swiftboat vets should get the same invite to the Republican convention that Michael Moore got to the Democratic.

And the assault on the Swift Boat Vets for Truth by newspapers like the Daily News and the Times makes you both, for all intents and purposes, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kerry-Edwards '04.

See how easy it is to just point a finger without any evidence? Maybe I should run for President.

That is a very clever observation. I would love to see it used when hostile commie "journalists" grill people over the SBVT ads.

***Commentary by Neal Boortz***

http://boortz.com/nuze/index.html

BUSH STANDS UP FOR FREE SPEECH ..... NOT!

"I don't think we should have any 527s." The words of George Bush.

Wrong.

There should be absolutely no restrictions whatsoever on any group, political, religious, social .. whatever .. pooling their resources to let other people know how they feel on a political issue and encouraging others to support or join them. It's all in keeping with a pesky little thing called freedom of speech. Any government that restricts the ability of any group of people to express their political desires and concerns in whatever forum is available to them is not a government that can claim to protect free speech.

Nowhere is freedom of speech more important than in the political arena. This is where Americans left and right express their views, their concerns and their preferences on matters that will affect their lives and the lives of their children years into the future. Political ads are merely the expressions of the political thoughts and attitudes of one or a group of Americans. There should be no federal law of any nature whatsoever which prevents the American people from voicing their views on political issues, or any other issues. The McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform law that Bush signed is an obscenity .. and when the Supreme Court upheld that law it was a clear signal to the American people that the cherished concept of freedom of speech was on its way out.

-----------------

Boortz has a good point here. Bush should be encouraging these swiftboat vets to tell their side of the story rather than hiding behind federal law to condemn them.

I think that I have discovered why the Democrats are in such a panic and why Kerry cannot release his military records. Frontpage Magazine Kerry had his citation for the silver star award rewritten three times, the first time to remove the mention of having shot the Viet Cong kid in the back (Hear that Rood? Kerry denies he ever shot the guy)The reason for the third rewrite is less clear, and the article is a little technical and tedious, but meaningful. In other words, if Kerry releases his military files, he will only throw more weight behind another of the allegations of the Swiftboat veterans, not disprove them.
