This afternoon at about 6:30, John O'Neill was interviewed by local guy Dom Giordano (1210AM - Philadelphia) and he was OUTSTANDING! The Swift Boat Vets are NOT backing down one iota. John thoroughly debunked the Washington Post (and other) hit pieces with stone cold facts. He also pointed out the various lies that Kerry has been caught in and which were even ACKNOWLEDGED by the Washington Post. John also took some calls and was praised by everyone, including a couple of Vietnam vets who called into the show.
One caller, a Vietnam vet, said that he had injured himself in Vietnam ("a self-inflicted wound") by dropping an 8mm round on his hand and he would have laughed if anybody told him to put in for a Purple Heart. Apparently, it wasn't too difficult to get one. John joked that guys in his unit were afraid to go shave because they might cut themselves and end up with a Purple Heart.
There was also a lot of talk about the difficulty in finding 'Unfit for Command' at bookstores. For the most part this appears to be the result of a GROSS UNDERESTIMATE of how much DEMAND there would be for the book by the publisher, Regnery.
Prior to John, Dom interviewed a Vietnam POW (I forget the name - Gaitlan?) who talked about how Kerry's 1971 Senate testimony WAS USED BY THE ENEMY captors to intimidate and demoralize POWs.
It was quite an afternoon of compelling radio, let me tell you. If this type of talk radio is going on around the nation, Kerry is in big, big trouble.
Steve Gardner was on his crew, and he detests sKerry. Tonight on Scarbourough he tore J'f arse to bits. Hurley the horse sKerry rode in on was devastated by Gardner, he is no wuss puss and takes no crap.
Yeah, when he called Hurley "Buddy" my wife and I fell out of our seats laughing!
I think that explanation is too simple. Kerry served with most of them less than two months. Steve Gardner mentioned on a radio show interview that Kerry was not liked. He related the story of how one fellow crewmember ( a friend of Gardner's) became a Kerry supporter. He said that the guy couldn't stand Kerry on the boat, but that Kerry had called him and convinced him to support him.
Kerry was not close to any of the crew members until the 1996 campaign. He initiated getting them together then and now. They are political props who are being paid off one way or another. I have no doubt they enjoyed getting medals, but Kerry was a loner then and is pretty much the same now in the Senate. The idea that people form such close bonds after serving together for a number of weeks is nonsense. Kerry's BOB are manufactured just like the rest of his resume.
According to Gardner who served more than 2 months with Kerry, he was not a good skipper. And his officer peers thought he was terrible as an OIC. Unfit for Command goes into great detail about his leadership skills or lack thereof.
Thanks for putting up this thread .. Dom G had a great show ...
here are some notes I made earlier about the POW .. Paul Golunti ... who was McCain's VA Campaign chairman in 2000
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1195790/posts?page=584#584
He's talking about his plane being shot down and being a POW for 7 years and how they tortured him
He says the VC use to play Kerry's speech over the loud speakers for the POW's to hear
Says the VC use to say to him how they had officers in the streets of NY to speak for the VC (Kerry and others)
He says John McCain is a good man but he strongly disagrees with McCain about wanting the Swiftboat Vets to stop their Ads
Thanks for the notes.
By the way, please check out post #27. Did you hear that part?
What is your recollection?
That's what I thought I heard .. but I was also making dinner at the time, so I wasn't sure
Check out #46 :0)
Is Rollye James still around? I used to listen on line, but haven't clicked on her site in a while.
She was great back in the early Clinton years, when she was in San Diego. And she knows a lot about music from the 50's/60's. Purdy, too.
Yes, Rollye is still around and still awesome.
I occasionally stumble across her show when I'm spinning the dial. She is on later in the evening. I last caught her show a few weeks ago, but I don't remember where on the dial she was.
Has anyone else noticed that John McCain, after his initial comment about the SwiftVets first Ad, has said NOTHING since? I'll bet it's because he either read the book "Unfit for Command", or spoke with some of the SwiftVets themselves, or was otherwise informed about the truth of this matter. For 20 years McCain wouldn't speak with John Kerry because of his anti-war activities. So, for a long time he wasn't "friends" with John. After hearing all of these truths about Kerry, McCain may start not speaking to him again. Unless, of course, Kerry wins, and asks McCain to be Secretary of Defense. McCain's a totally political animal.
I doubt you'll be hearing from McCain again soon, and he's probably also po'd that Kerry's henchmen are using McCain's quote over and over again as to why the SwiftVets and their Ad should be spurned. Plus, what's happening now with these 527 organizations is a perfect example as to why the McCain-Feingold Campaign-Finance bill was a farce (although this is working to our advantage now as it's allowing the Swifters to get the truth out about Kerry). Bet those 527's are disallowed in the not too far future (hehehehehe).
With these heroes on the side of truth--the Kerry meltdown (and their media allies with them) cannot be long in coming.
Even this morning, I can sense a palpable change in the media stance---they know Kerry is sinking. Even the AOL (or AO-Hell) front page news--which is incredibly liberal--is saying Kerry is sinking fast.
I'm watching the '71 debate between O'Neill and Kerry right now on realplayer, it's very good. I can't believe Kerry thought none of this would come back on him. I pray the Swifties are being protected because I wouldn't put anything past Kerry.
I admire O'Neill and the others who are courageously working to spread the truth about Johnny!
That may be so. But we have to keep pounding on him till election day. It's very hard to keep a vampire in the ground. I think the Swift Vets have received something like 700K in contributions so far and they've used it effectively in some battleground states' media markets. But I would like to see them get around 10 million. Just think what they could do with that. IMO, we have to continue helping them raise the money they need to saturate these critical TV/radio/print markets. It won't be long before the media start calling this "old news." Strike while the iron is hot.
I can. Back then, there was no internet, no conservative talk radio, and no Fox like there is today. Even as recently as 1992, the media were able to cover up all of the Clintons' crimes and failures in Arkansas, giving them scant mention, marginalizing and minimizing them. Even in 1996, alternative media were still not able to stop them from handing Clinton a re-election victory. Kerry was right, IMO, to assume in 1971 that he could count on the media's collusion well into the foreseeable future. After all, he'd watched the Kennedys slide by for years. Only Chappaquidick came back to bite them and that was only because Teddy got caught with the proverbial "dead girl." And even in 2000, Gore came photo finish close to the White House, in spite of all his criminal activities, flip-flops, etc. which many of the undecided voters were simply unaware of.
BUMP FOR SWIFT VET AD2... http://www.swiftvets.com/
I believe that was probably Paul Galanti.
Except for running for cover (to maintain his political viability) instead of defending boat #3 and it's crew, I suppose he is a great skipper and afterall he writes those after action reports so well.
YES! That's the name. Thanks.
