Zell Miller has a serious credibility problem. Around home, Miller is affectionately known as "Zig Zag Zell" for his decades-long broken field run through the shifting minefield that is Southern politics. But now, in his new role as the head cheerleader and snarling pit bull for the Bush campaign, he is attempting something that has exceeded even his own legendary talents at shape shifting. These days, Zell is insisting that despite his apparent treachery, he is in fact a loyal Democrat and it is all the other Democrats who are not really Democrats anymore.
Like Captain Renault in "Casablanca," Miller is "shocked" that special interests have great influence in the Democratic Party and that the party has lost resonance in America's heartland.

Typical false premise on the part of the author and therefore he arrives at the typical invalid conclusion.
Anything that the Atlantic Urinal and Constipation puts out is suspect and this is one example. Zell has said that the Rat party is not the same one of years ago.
"he is in fact a loyal Democrat and it is all the other Democrats who are not really Democrats anymore"
Yup. Its been happening for quite a while - look at all the foot soldiers of the Reagan Revolution. WE came from the Democrat Party, we're not coming back, and as Noonan herself so aptly remarked: "and we're not teaching our children to love you either". Zell just missed the boat, thats all. So we sent a helo back for him :)
We welcome an opposition party that places the needs of this nation over your thirst for power at any cost. Meantime, you and your kind are welcome to go supplicate yourselves to the UN - as former Clinton-whores, you should be familiar with that position.
Bye bye.
For once the Atlanta Urinal and Constipation has got it right.
Zell Miller is dead wrong.
Anyone who thinks he or she can give a rat's a$$ about American values and still be a "loyal Democrat" is dead wrong.
He sure got lots of votes in Georgia!
Miller certainly got a lot more votes in Georgia than Cooter did!
If you really want a loyal opposition you need to do everything in your power to help Democrats lose.
IMO, if they lose this election, they will start splitting again. Democrat leadership is far,far to the left of much of their blue collar membership, and they are leaving in droves. If we make any inroads into the Black vote, and deny Dems much of the Hispanic vote, they are dead as a party.
All of the disparate groups that make up the Dem party are starting to war against one another, and I am hoping we can fan more of those flames.
