Well yea we know that there is no connection, and Kerry is just freaking out and acting paranoid. But why is this paper pointing it out? Like the Boston globe yesterday (among others) calling Kerry on his flip flop over troop realignment. Could this be the media's general desire for blood getting in the way with their love affair with Kerry?

There is a NYT article this morning that is supposed to nuke SBV4T. Have you seen/posted it?

The Washington Post's account is exactly the opposite of the story in today's New York Times! Talk about the mainstream media gang that can't shoot straight! It's only getting better...

Kimo Williams, a Vietnam vet and executive director of the National Vietnam Veterans Art Museum in Chicago, said he's been waiting for Kerry to fight back but
that exaggeration was part of the culture in Vietnam. "You'll hear this from any veteran who is upfront about it: When we were there, we were always trying to find
ways to take advantage of our situation," he said. "So when I look at John Kerry and the situation he was in, it's easy for me to say, 'OK, he may have done that.'
But I don't see anything wrong if Kerry not so much falsified it but exaggerated it to make sure he got his Purple Heart."

Other local veterans are far more skeptical and say they will never forgive Kerry for joining the anti-war movement when he got back to the United States.

"I'm a Democrat, but without a doubt, I'm voting for Bush," said Thomas Maher, a Vietnam vet from Mount Greenwood who has never voted Republican in a
presidential race. "If everything he did in Vietnam was totally correct, God bless him. . . . But you don't speak out against your own country."

Dennis Rombola, a Streamwood bus driver who was a gunner on Army helicopters in Vietnam, said he just doesn't believe Kerry.

"I got hit by some shrapnel and never took a Purple Heart," Rombola said. "To me, I think Kerry's a phony."

...Instead of rebutting each charge, Kerry blamed Bush for sanctioning such highly personal attacks...

This statement in the article makes the point. If Kerry could rebut the claims he would!

Typical JF'nKerry, liberal, RAT bastard tactic.

Having no excuse for the inexcusable, he attacks at random to evade the truth.

"When the facts are against you, argue the law. When the law is against you, argue the facts. The facts and the law are against you, trash the witnesses."

By trashing the veterans instead of rebutting the facts, Kerry effectively admits that the facts (the truth of what really happened) and the law (that there is no real connection between Bush and the Vets) are against him.

The newspaper notes that the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth Campaign is hurting Kerry's candidacy: His campaign has been "flooded with calls from concerned veterans," the Washington Post said, and a CBS poll shows Kerry has lost "significant" veterans' support.

As much as I am against this campaign to show Kerry as the smug, elitist liar he is concerning his VN record, it seems to be at least making Vets pay attention.

Wrong response from Kerry.

The charges made by the Swift Boat Veterans must be true.

Otherwise the Kerry Machine would attack the facts, not the messenger.

The idea that Kerry was ever popular with veterans is a false premise. Most Vietnam veterans didn't need the SBVFT to expose Kerry's antiwar activities. The new information about Kerry's bogus awards and abbreviated tour in Vietnam just adds fuel to the fire.

"There is no evidence the president's campaign has direct connections to the anti-Kerry veterans group," the Washington Post reported on Friday...

"Instead of rebutting each charge, Kerry blamed Bush for sanctioning such highly personal attacks," the Washington Post said.

Uh-oh.

"According to the newspaper, the Kerry campaign wants to convince voters that the Bush White House -- and Karl Rove -- are behind the Swift Boats' campaign, "at least in spirit." But the newspaper adds, "Many of the veterans affiliated with the anti-Kerry effort do not have obvious relationships with the Bush campaign, nor do some of its donors.""

So now they will try the Clinton approach "at least in spirit", make it a religious experience.

Talk about a bunch of stupid people it's not POLITICAL, it's not RELIGIOUS it's PERSONAL.

This is the usual chickenshit liberal response, Clintonite in nature:

Strike back at the charge, without specifically denying the charge or presenting evidence to the contrary.

The guy's a fraud. Otherwise he would have sued for libel and slander weeks ago. We gottem' on the ropes, no matter how many national liberal daily newspapers they can mobilize, after weeks of silence and ignoring the book and charges..

Kudos to the Washington Post for reporting this story. This is nonpartisan reporting of a fact which the Kerry campaign would really like not be mentioned.

The Kerry campaign is in a corner and they might have to surrender to the Swift Vets.

It's amazing to me how Kerry and Co. have played into the hands of Swift Vets, by stressing his service record above all else at the convention, Edward's invitation to "spend three minutes with the men who served with Kerry", and the poor strategic decisions Kerry and Co. have made since this Swift Boat Vets for Truth matter first arose.

To settle this whole mess, all Kerry needs to do is to release his records. He won't because he understands what will happen when and if does release them.

I find the whole situation very funny. Folks like David Korn are put in the position of trashing the swiftboat vets as "bought and paid for by repubs", while at the same time not even attempting to challenge them on the merits of what they are saying. Because they can't. The NY times is simply more of the same. They miss the point--nobody cares about stupid supposed connections to rove; The issue is one of truth. Who is telling it and who is not.

The swifties are telling the truth, kerry knows, the NYT knows, moveon.org knows, and even soros knows. That is the problem. They are scared because, I think, their internals are showing them that the voters, (by and large), know this as well.
