You are absolutely right. This current controversy is merely laying the groundwork. Many Americans will only wonder "did Kerry lie about the actual events leading to his medals". Many of them will never know for sure.

But when the focus shifts to 1971 and beyond, when Kerry became one of Ho Chi Min's propaganda agents, then the wondering will be replaced with disgust.
