There are so many inconsistencies about Kerry's war record I thought I'd try to list them all.
What do we know About Kerry’s war exploits?
We know the following:
We know that, when drafted, he requested a deferment to continue studies in Paris.
We know that when his deferment was refused, he was given the option to volunteer or be drafted, so he volunteered for the Navy (safest option).
We know when he volunteered for swiftboat duty they were not assigned to the war zone.
We know he only served 4 months 12 days, far shorter than any other officer in the swiftboat group.
We know he re-enacted scenes on camera for later use.
We know he applied for his own transfer out on the basis of his three purple hearts.
We know he wasn’t in Cambodia on Christmas Eve 1968
We know Nixon wasn’t President in 1968
We know the Khmer Rouge wasn’t fighting in 1968
We know there is no river boundary between Cambodia and Vietnam as claimed by Mike Meehan.
We know that Kerry has now given five different versions of the “Christmas in Cambodia” story.
We know that not a single soul has substantiated any of his stories.
We know that he injured himself in the butt by tossing a grenade in a rice pail
We know from his medical report that he only had a contusion on his arm
We know that his Bronze star citation says he was bleeding from his arm
We know there are three different versions of his Bronze Star citation; the most embellished being signed by John Lehman, who was not Secretary of the Navy until 1981.
We know that it was only the Kerry who fled the scene when PCF 3 hit a mine.
We know Kerry claimed he stayed, and the other three boats fled the scene – he has now changed his story.
We know that Kerry’s citation claimed he was under “withering fire from both banks of the river”
We know the river is only 75 yards wide.
We know that despite being on station to render aid to PCF3 for over one hour, the other three swiftboats received no damage, nor their crew any injuries, from the supposed “withering fire” that Kerry claimed was happening.
We know he requested a purple heart for his first, self inflicted, minor wound, and was refused by his superior officer –he got one by some other route.
We know he won’t release his records.
We know that he chronicled in his diary that he had not yet been shot at 9 days after the incident where he claimed his first purple heart.
We know Kerry’s version of events is contested by 254 comrades in arms, 60 of which were on the spot eye witnesses to the events and know that Kerry is lying.
We know that Kerry continues to amend his record as each fraud is revealed. To date, the Swiftboat Vets have stood firm by everything they have said
We know John Kerry was a highly decorated officer in the Communist Party... ;-) j/k

We know that Kerry's picture is in the N. Vietnamese War Crimes Museum, our crimes, not theirs, shaking the hand of one of their generals.
All of these add up to him being quite presidential, don't they? NOT!
I guess I did not realize Kerry was drafted. I know he sought a deferment to study in Paris. I thought the lottery happened the year after he joined the Navy. Don't flame me, just trying to clear up my timeline.

He said he was not at the Kansas City Vietnam Veterans Against the War meeting in Nov. 71 where they discussed assassinating U.S. senators, but when called on it admitted he was there but that he left the group right afterwards.
I don't think John Kerry was actually drafted, I believe he requested a deferment before being drafted and was told he would be denied. Correct me if I'm wrong..but I think that's the way I remember it
No flame from me. I didn't realize he was drafted either, although I did hear he went after a deferment, and when that was denied, he went into the Navy.
My oldest brother had a high draft number AND a two-year college deferment, but his reasoning was they were probably going to get him anyway so he enlisted in the Army, very much against my parents wishes. That he is going to vote for such a man as Kerry is certainly a mystery to me, but he absolutely detests President Bush.
Are you referring to the Rassman incident? If so, then there was another boat that was damaged, most likely from a mine. Three soldiers fell off the boat and some were injured. But nobody except the guys that Kerry is paying says that there was gunfire after the other swiftboats fired some suppression rounds toward the riverbank.
We know John Kerry tossed his medals before he didn't toss them.
That list alone should have been enough to have Kerry campaigning for his first parole hearing instead of for CIC of the United States.
