I did hear right. Cleland said Kerry was SHOT 3 times. What BS! He was never shot, never spent an hour in the hospital. 2 self-inflicted shrapnel wounds and one that was maybe legit.

The linkage that the Kerry campaign and media types like Matthews are making, that somehow the Swift Vets are a front for the Bush campaign is clever, and clearly the major talking point; even though denied by both the Bush campaign and the Swift Vets. If the Swift Vets are just a Republican front group, then their claims don't have considered seriously, but only as a dirty campaign trick. And it opens a line to attack Bush on his lack of Vietnam combat experience, which Matthews was trying to get at through his interrogation of Thurlow.

Even though Kerry himself has made the claim, no evidence has been produced to make that linkage, and it is sad that the major media outlets fail to challenge such an unsupported claim, and even are willing to support it.

Holy crap! Cleland now says Kerry was SHOT 3 times?? Oh FGS!! I read the description of one of Kerry's wounds in Unfit. It was a metal fragment (the military called it shrapnel) that measured about 1 centimeter long by 3 to 4 millimeters wide. It was in the skin no more than 3 or 4 millimeters. It was easily extracted by a forceps and required no anesthesia for the extraction. No suturing was required and a small dressing (probably a band-aid) was applied.

FGS!
