Gunmen In Albania Fire At Italian Helicopter

TIRANA, Albania (AP)--Unknown gunmen fired at an Italian helicopter flying overhead in southern Albania and a woman was wounded Wednesday by what police said could have been a bullet ricocheting during the attack

The woman was wounded in the heel, said police spokesman Besnik Cani in Gjirokaster, a city 225 kilometers south of Tirana. He said on the phone that the bullet came from a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

The helicopter was on a routine mission from the southernmost town of Saranda to the capital of Tirana when it was shot at while flying over Lazarat village near Gjirokaster, said Florian Serjani, another police spokesman. Police officials were discussing the incident with their Italian counterparts, he added.

Italian police have established a presence in Albania to help the Balkan country's police fight organized crime and control the borders.

Lazarat village is about 20 kilometers from the checkpoint of Kakavie, on the border with Greece.

We have a chance to reconvert these Albanians back to Christianity -- either Albanian or Greek Orthodox or Catholicism. They were Christian until the 17th century.

Our local Lutheran Social Services group is active in refugee resettlement. Once that was a noble effort, but during the clinton era became focused on bringing in muslim "refugees", especially "Bosnian" muslims and Kosovo Shiptars. (I stopped giving to them when I saw what was going on.) How many other Christian and Jewish agencies are bringing in these muslims? And how many of the muslim "refugees" (especially the Shiptars) are terrorists or terrorist enablers?

In New York City, there is a group of Kosovo Albanian muslims who own pizzerias. This "pizza mafia" has been very active in financing Albanian "causes", including the KLA and the Albanian-American political lobby. This lobby has been buying several US Representatives and Senators, especially the Serbophobic "murderers row" Senators such as Lieberman, Dodd, McConnell, Biden, etc. One member of this group is the current Democratic Presidential nominee, John "big clintonoid liar" Kerry!!!! Thus, besides the mafia and terrorist connection, the Shiptar influence has its sticky fingers in the highest levels of American politics!!

This story is absolutely the truth. I live in NYC area and grew up amongst many Albanian and Italian (I am Italian-american myself) organized crime types. The Albanians are far far more viscious and violent. They would kill their mothers for a dollar, their sister for a penny, and anyone else for the fun of it. These are really third world people with a third world mentality. Dare anyone calll me bigoted, they themselves will agree with my assertions.

But - we keep letting them in. Many deal guns and drugs. In this area, many Albanians are slum lords in the Bronx.

I dunno, I hope we have CAtholic missionaries there -- after All Mother Teresa was ethnic Albanians (though she was born in Macedonia when it was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire!).

As an Italian-American you should research the history of the great Italian immigrations of the early 20th century. At the time Italians were chastised and marginalized with the same stereotypes you now so easily place on Albanians. I will not defend any criminal, whether Albanian or not, but I am deeply disturbed by your failure to make a distinction between criminal Albanians and the rest of the Albanian diaspora.
