The reason for what they're doing is to help re-elect President Bush and to make sure that Kerry isn't elected. That statement is only half-true.
They're silent on GWB, as well they should be.
They didn't even form the organization until kerry had gotten the nomination. If kerry weren't the nominee, we never would have heard of the Swiftees.

If kerry weren't the nominee, we never would have heard of the Swiftees. That's very likely true. So what you're saying is that they're only trying to work against Kerry's being elected, they aren't really trying to help President Bush.
I can accept that, even though anything that detracts from Kerry's campaign will indirectly aid Bush's campaign.

Actually I just heard O'Neill say that even if the President asked them to stop, they wouldn't. That even if the SwiftBoat efforts hurt the President "that's just too bad, we won't stop because we are going to get the truth out". Are you talking about the actual 527 not being formed until after Kerry had the official nomination? Because the SwiftBoat vets have been organized as a group for several years, what's more SwiftBoat Veterans for the Truth held a news conference in May 2004 which was only carried by C-Span and spiked as a story by the AP but came out publically with their charges against Kerry well in advance of the convention.
