Gore gets speeding ticket while traveling in Oregon Former vice president polite, trooper says

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

ASTORIA, Ore. -- Former Vice President Al Gore was cited for speeding as he drove a rented car to visit family on the coast, authorities said.

Gore, who was alone, was issued a $141 ticket for driving 75 mph on state Route 26 in the northwest corner of the state, police said. The speed limit is 55.

Gore was issued the ticket Aug. 3 at 12:37 p.m., said Lt. Dale Rutledge, spokesman for the Oregon State Police.

The trooper who stopped Gore did not recognize him until he furnished his license, Sgt. Andrew Merila told KATU-TV.

The trooper said Gore, who carried Oregon when he ran for president in 2000, was polite throughout the encounter.

Gore has until December to decide whether to fight the ticket.

in Texas you can still take defensive driving as long as you're not 24 mph over the limit

My dad, who had a penchant for telling stories, said he once got pulled over for speeding in Texas. The officer issued him a $5 ticket, payable on the spot, and advised him, "Don't lose that. It's good all day."

Amen. Amen. Amen!!!! You must EARN respect from others and gore has not earned it and...he never will. In spite of everything he did or didn't do to win that election (which he lost fair and square in spite of what the dem/libs say) ...he'll ALWAYS be remembered as Sore/Loserman just as clintin's legacy will ALWAYS AND FOREVER be Monica Lewinsky. Ironic, huh?

I am sure it will come out that the Trooper is funded by rich republican businessmen who are part of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy!

Gore has become the Rodney Dangerfield of the democrat party............a few weeks ago he was robbed of $35,000 while vacationing. Poor Al just can't get ANY respect.

Maybe Gore was trying to outrun the robbers again????

Since when is it prudent for an ex-vp to be traveling out of the USA WITHOUT the security detail?

Who would get the blame if something happened to him? Seriously!!! Or if he was kidnapped and the terrorists threatened to behead him or something equally vile? Would the Secret Service detail get blamed for letting off the leash?

Why was he alone in the Lincoln? Where is Tipper? Inquiring minds want to know.

"Gore has until December to decide whether to fight the ticket."

You mean the Democrats haven't turned out to protest??? How quickly their loyalties fade.

Poor Al, he just keeps going down the drain.

Just think. If he had won the election, the rest of us would be going down with him.

Al Gore busted for doing 77 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. But after a recount he was only cited for doing 75.

Al Gore invented speeding. He probably wishes he hadn't invented radar.

The cop should have searched the car.

I'm betting he would have found something.

Wish he'd mouthed off and gotten a little "stick time."

Maybe next time Al will decide to stomp the gas pedal and make a run for it.

Yup, that'd make a great Fox News Alert.

You think cops should beat people who talk back to them? Too bad there's no such thing as a time machine, ja, good German?
