**The trooper who stopped Gore did not recognize him until he furnished his license**

Wonder which one of his personas he was using.

I wonder why Gore was in such a hurry. Does he even have a job, the loser.

Not sure where you live...but in Texas you can still take defensive driving as long as you're not 24 mph over the limit. Not sure at what speed they take away your license but it's not 75 that's for sure (or 20 over the limit). Heck...on the roads around Houston you get run over if you're not driving 80. I doubt you would lose your license as well...so he did not get any special treatment.

Although...one wonders: If he was so concerned about the combustion engine and pollution why he was speeding and wasting all that gas? Not very environmental of him. Just another hypocritical liberal.

Report: Al Gore Robbed of $35,000

NewsMax ^ | 8/7/04 | Carl Limbacher

The next time former Vice President Al Gore complains "We wuz robbed," he won't be talking about the 2000 Florida election recount.

Gore and his wife reportedly had $35,000 worth of "valuables" purloined while vacationing in Italy this week.

"The Gores were robbed while staying in a luxurious villa in Castellina," a Tuscan source told the London Spy column in the Daily Telegraph. "One of the neighbors went in to sympathize, and Al told him that the thieves had taken about $35,000 worth of valuables."

The robbery, which was also reported by the New York Post, occurred while Gore was traveling without his usual security detail, with the ex-VP reportedly telling friends he was kicking himself at the oversight.

It's not clear what "valuables" were taken.

Gore's U.S. office could not immediately confirm the robbery, with a spokesman telling the Telegraph: "I have no information on this."

I have a lot of reasons to hate algore but this ain't one of em. Could happen to any of us. Don't know the road, but wouldn't be surprised if the 55 mph speed limit is ridiculously low, and if lots of other cars were exceeding it.

Not for the speeding. For the hypocrisy.

It was the Gorites that gave us the original 55 limit.

He was speeding, alone, and in a large car.

"But Officer, I just had a lot of iced tea..."

Sorry, Al, but this road has a controlling legal authority.

Geez 20 miles over the speed limit here and we'd not be driving for a while...wonder how he got so lucky

That's the same thing I was thinking. Here in TN more than 15mph over is wreckless driving and you go to jail.

Agree absolutely. Probably thought the limit was 65, so he drove 75 like anybody else on the open road.

"Gore has until December to decide whether to fight the ticket."

Wonder if he'll call out the help of the DNC and every slime-ball trial lawyer to contest the ticket - hey, maybe he will take it all the way to the Supreme Court!

True, Gore was a little unkempt at the moment. He'd been up all night with a bottle of Mad Dog writing a speech for MoveOn.org.
