Bush Consolidating Base in Core Republican States George W. Bush has consolidated his base vote in core Republican states in recent weeks and has made slight inroads in swing states in the process of moving to a somewhat more competitive position against John Kerry. These conclusions are based on a comparison of the candidates ballot strength in three June and early July CNN/USA Today/Gallup polls compared with three polls conducted from just before the Democratic convention through last week. There has been no significant change in the race in core Democratic states.

But I thought his base is frustrated, disappointed, will not show up in November. Every election you hear the same crap. I think Bush's approval rating among republicans is almost as high Reagan's was.

Just wait until after the convention. Between Kerry being in a Vietnam/Cambodia lie-filled quagmire and the GOP convention, Bush should be riding high going into the debates.

If this is the best the DNC and Kerry can do, with a bump from their convention: I would watch for voter fraud in NM, SD, MO and other swing states if I was a RNC member! We need Jimmy Carter in those states to insure America gets a fair election! sarcasim off.

I sense increasing momentum for Bush and I see Kerry's campaign faltering. That's enough for me.

If the polls look so-so now, just wait until kerry starts talking. If he talks enough this may be a GWB landslide!
