I never thought I'd see the day that Alan Keyes would become a Pander Bear.

Keyes is starting to remind me of that
Far Side cartoon where a male dog shows up at the door to pick up his date. The female dog says something like, "I don't know what you rolled in, but it sure smells good!"
Reparations is reparations. What Keyes is proposing is a bad idea.

Keyes has been an affirmative action kind of guy all along. He will also retreat back to "it's racism" if he is challenged, attacked or thinks he has not gotten the "support" he "deserves" from the Republican Party.
Alan Keyes is a brilliant and dynamic speaker. There is no doubt about that. However, he is a flawed candidate. Obama will look more stable, rational and stronger up against Keyes.
I have often thought all the white people who embrace him do so out of collective white guilt. They have never really looked closely or listened closely to Alan Keyes.

When the Dems wanted universal health care, they started by making it incrementally available to a few.
An incremental elimination of income tax might be a good thing.
Just offering another perspective.

How many are living in the first or second generation from the Civil War 140 years ago?

"However, he is a flawed candidate."
That is the understatement of the millenia.
In 1992, Keyes called the National Republican Establishment "racist." In the not too distant past, Keyes claimed GWB was "evil." Now, he supports slavery reparations.
Flawed candidate? Flawed like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

Agree wholeheartedly.
I find it insulting as an American. I'd find it really insulting if I were an "african-american."
This and Keyes's flip-flop on carpetbagging really has me questioning what this guy stands for.

Thats what I want to know....Also, did not "Reconstruction"
pay former slaves with property, mules, etc.
I once bought a farm in Tennessee. The past deeds showed that former slaves acquired it during reconstruction.
Much of the property in that area was owned by blacks in the late 1800s.

I'm a far right conservative, But I'm voting for Obama. What Keyes is promoting is discriminatory and unconstitutional.

I was very smug because my family from Tennessee fought on the Union side.
I thought they were anti slavery, but an old will showed that they owned 2 slaves, Tennessee and Mahalia.
I am not so smug now.

cancel the earned income credit too.
To: JohnHuang2
Anyone have the exact figure of how many folks don't pay taxes now? Those blacks who are in that number already have what he is proposing....and have for a generation or two already. Worse, with the myriad of credits and giveaways available, some actually make money.
This idea is disgusting and ill-conceived. as all reparation type ideas are.

How do you anti-Keyes folks feel about Germans paying reparations to the Jews, or their descendants, who were victimized by the Nazis? Are you opposed to reparations in principle?
