The bulk of American Jews I encounter are the Reformed. They tend to have two or fewer children, attend services on only the highest of holy days, and disregard the dietary requirements - these folks are the Democrat faction. They are reflexively liberal. I think their support for Kerry stems more from their liberalism than from their identity as Jews.
BTW, they also favor an accomodation on the part of Israel toward the Palis. I realize these are gneralizations, but they are based on observation, not stereotyping.
I hope you are right..hell, aren't Jewish people all
for the business aspect in their life? You would think
that moneywise alone..they would be in Bush corner...
or do they think..since all blacks go the Dem route..they
will do. go figure...stumps me....Jake
Naah, they're just a bunch of dumb *sses. :>)
I just want to make sure I understand you here. Are you actually saying that Jews who vote for Kerry do so because they are deceived by the devil and blinded because of their unbelief?
What is your explanation for Christians who vote for Kerry?

Oh, and what about Jews who vote for Bush?
Also didn't Jim baker, the Secretary of State under Bush 41 said to Bush 41,"F*&k the Jews, they do not vote for us anyway!"
I can agree with your explanation, but not with the above statement. If the answer was an easy one, why did it take you so long to figure it out? 8^D
Not true......My family is Reform and many of my friends are reform and have the same views. Jewish Clergy mostly very liberal do-gooders who don't understand the reality of the world. But please don't stereo type all Jews as being liberal.
I proudly am a member of the RJCHQ.org
disregard this poll. My brother in law is the barometer. He voted for Gore in 2000 despite my pleadings. This time he is Bush. He is the Jewish swing vote. Where he goes so goes Florida and the election. On top of that my mother is now hardcore Bush. Although I made her vote for Bush 2000. She is now eager to vote Bush, loves Fox news and is spreading the word to her Jewish friends. I know my brother in law can't be by himself.
Even positive stereotypes are stereotypes. And this one easily morphs into the negative "greedy Jew" stereotype.
Jews are individuals. We are no more all alike than all Christians are alike.
They must not be aware of the fact that the Revrund Al Sharptongue was given a prime time speaking appearance at the DNC.
Kerry has 92% of the Blacks, 91% of the MSM and Hollywood types, 90% of the Homosexuals, 89% of the convicted felons, 75% of the Jews, 70% of Arab Americans, 60% of the Mexicans, 54% of the WOMEN and 100% of the illegal alien, DEAD and underage vote.
How in the hell is GW going to possibly win?
I hope I'm doing the same.
Yes.
And statements like that don't exactly further efforts to make Jews feel welcome in the Republican Party.
Don't look for change among older Jewish voters. Most of them will vote Democrat until they die. The change in voting trends is apparent among younger Jews (as other on this thread have noted), who are much more willing to pull the lever for Republicans than the older generation.
My Reform shul is split about 50-50 between Democrats and Republicans.
American Jews (for the most part) aren't Israelis. The ones represented in this poll have more in common with the Hollywood elite and the New England/Long Island liberal crowd (eg. Kerry/Kennedy) than they do with the average Israeli.
I am Jewish so I am qualified to answer here.
Jews tend to be part of academia or other professions which tend to tilt towards liberal issues. It is not as though they do not care for Israel. On the contrary, Jews in the US tend to support Israel by sending money, buying bonds, planting trees, yadda yadda.... To many,(76%) this is enough. Most Jews in the US live in LA, NY, Miami and other heavily liberal areas.
We speak of a strong Israel. However, when you listen to liberals they want Israel around for one reason. So that they can go there for three weeks to see the country when they retire.
Most Americans that have already been to Israel see Israelis as egotistical, pushy, bossy people that cannot stand Americans. I lived there for a year and can attest to that. I have friends that are Israeli. I also met Israelis that would make the French look good as far as being rude and obnoxious.
I guess the way to look at it, Jews, as Americans vote liberal for the most part. Whether it is because of how we arrived here in the early 1900's or because of our environment, American Jews vote as their parents voted and grandparents voted.
My grandparents were neolibs. My parents were neolibs and until I learned for myself what is happening to this country, not to mention surviving a bomb blast in Jerusalem a few years back, I was a neolib.
My parents are now Conservative.
