Since they will be distributing the DNC talking points, what possible harm could have been done by allowing others in. Perhaps they were concerned about the type of questions they might receive or that others may be disruptive but they could always "bounce" them. I don't get it.

I think we need to create or get assistance from a news organization that can credential people like Kristinn. Perhaps a FRN News? Or The Ether Journal? Or Computer Network News (CNN)?

Getting credential may not be a bad idea...If FR was a certified news agency would we have more or fewer problems posting from other sources? Are credential legally feasible or even desirable? Heaven knows we've been on the cutting edge of many stories! (And maybe even the instigator of some)

You can get press credentials through the National Writers Union. They are a pack of hare-brained Marxists, but if you have had at least two articles published in legitimate newspapers or magazines in the past several years, you can join the NWU and get press credentials. It costs $ 95/year to join, plus $ 40 for press credentials. The NWU is a subsidiary of United Auto Workers Local 1981 (go figure), so technically you are a union member. The good news is that as a union member you have a say in what the union does.

I think FR should become an official news agency.
To: blanknoone
well if JimRob would get a BETTER BUSINESS MODEL he would be able to afford real press credentials.
This is the most important site on the net- it could get millions in funding support from the right sources.
Look at salon.com and moveon.org - POS sites with millions in funding. I bet moveon.org could have goten into this site.

Kris - it's time to get fully credentialled as an "accredited" news agency. Going as a "freelance writer" won't work, as they can still put the kybosh on you.
I'm sure that either Talon News, CNS News or NewsMax would be more than happy to provide credentials to you and the several of us who are regularly published freelancers.
