Israel declared psychological war on hunger-striking Palestinian prisoners on Monday, saying it would barbecue meat outside their cells to try to break their will. The 1,500 inmates, seen by Palestinians as symbols of resistance to Israeli occupation, want wardens to stop strip searches, allow more frequent family visits, improve sanitary conditions and install public telephones, supporters said. I read something in the news about this. The authorities are going to start bbqing meat on grills. So the 'smell' will get to them. LOL!

Q. Why don't prisoners held in the jails in Muslim countries go on hunger strikes?
A. They're so mistreated they're already hungry. And, the jailers don't care if they die. There's something to be learned here.

No loss AFAICS. And the idea of barbequing meat
and letting 'em smell the luscious aroma is brilliant.

They should put them in a room, one at a time, with food and no witnesses, providing them with the chance to cheat anonymously. Personally, I never understood hunger strikes. It presupposes humanitarian concerns on behalf the party it's designed to influence which, if true, contradicts the strikers basic premise. It's like saying "you wish me harm so I'll punish you by harming myself." Could you imagine a hunger strike in Auschwitz?

Why not, as the strike progresses, slip something deadly to the ringleaders and then blame their unfortunate passing on their own hunger strike? You know that, if any of them actually die, that's what the Palestinians will claim.
