A Rock-Solid Foundation
Read: Matthew 7:21-27
No other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:11
Bible In One Year: Psalms 97-99; Romans 16
As Christians we can become so preoccupied with our earthly affairs that we shift our confidence from Jesus Christ to faith in our own intellect. Then something happens to shake the foundation on which we had been building.
Phillip E. Johnson, a gifted lawyer and primary spokesman for the Intelligent Design movement, suffered a stroke and was likely to have another. Plagued by frightening thoughts during those first few days after his stroke, he was profoundly touched when a friend came and sang, "On Christ, the solid rock, I standall other ground is sinking sand."
Johnson writes, "What was the solid rock on which I stood? I had always prided myself on being self-reliant, and my brain was what I had relied on. Now the self with its brain was exposed as the shaky instrument it had always been. I was a Christian, even an ardent one in my worldly fashion, but now all the smoke was blown away, and I saw Truth close up." He resolved to keep Jesus at the center of his life and is now a different man.
How quickly we rely on our intellect and reasoning, only to find that it is a "shaky instrument." Let's never forget that Jesus is the only rock-solid foundation of truth on which we can always depend. Herb Vander Lugt
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name. Mote
Build your life on the solid foundationJesus Christ.

<"What was your worst date?"
It was on our our 4th(I believe) date. I recieved a $187 speeding/ radar detector ticket. aslo during the course of the date she told me that I had to make a choice between a relationship her and me going to and finishing college ( It was a 7 hr trip from college to see her). I told her I choose college and she got mad as hell at me and started to yell and try to make me change my mind. After about 20 mins of this i stood up said "I'm chooising college because i want an education, and i aslo want to be able to enjoy the job that the education will allow me to have. If you don't understand that, then I don't need you in my life." I left at that point. and haven't spoken to her since that day.

My worst date should win the prize.
I had known Tammy for some time before I asked her out.
I knew she had children.
She lived in a large apartment complex and I couldn't
find any apartment numbers.
Some children were playing and I asked where Tammy lived,
They pointed to an apartment.
I knocked on the door and a man answered the door.
I thought well she has company.
I told him I had a date to take Tammy to dinner and he
said "one moment please".
Then a very large man came to the door in his shorts.
At this time I was asking myself "how did i get in this
situation".
He asked me what I wanted, wanting to leave but hard
headed I said " I was taking Tammy to dinner".
He looked at me like I was scum and said "but she is
only three years old".
I replied " Tammy ______ is a grown woman with children"
He said " Oh she lives in the third apartment in another
group".
I said " Thank god and left".
As I was walking away one of the children said " aren't
you taking Tammy to dinner"
I wanted to kick the little bleep.
I then found the correct apartment and took Tammy to a
nice restaurant ( this had to be Tammy's worst date also)
I was still so mad at my failure to find the correct
apartment that I spoke very little on the "date".
After dinner I took her home, walked her to her door
and then just left (no thanking her or anything.

Morning, armyboy! Thanks for 'playing' today!
Gads! You were driving 7 hours to see her (4th date!), and she already wanted 'more'?!!!
That speeding ticket had to ouch a bit, too.
P.S. Your tagline is so funny!

How about the guy who, after dinner and before we exited the car in the parking lot of the movie theatre on our one and only date, asked, "Mind if I smoke?", fired up a joint and proceeded to take a few deep drags. Uh, yeah, I do!

Oh my gosh! What a fiasco!

I'm just glad there wasn't a cop around. The guy was the son of a friend of my mother's, a lady I liked very much - and I have no idea whether his mom knew he was smoking pot.
