In a Russian worker's case, not really ;-)

Here's a better shot of that green van, called an Uazik, for the Ulyanovsk auto factory (UAZ). Lots of Soviet/Russian trucks were named for their factory (sort of like the 'MAN' buses), ie: KAMAZ, GAZ, MAZ, etc.

The worst of the Soviet auto industry had to be the Zaporozhets, an air-cooled, rear-enginned POS from Zaporozh'e, Ukraine. It is usually driven by a near-sighted old pensioner who has no insurance and no possessions other than his 'zapor' (Russian for 'constipation') and a B&W Slavutich television back at his son-in-law's apartment.

Zaporozhets! YES! Just got back from Ukraine. Tried to buy one over there, but they are now collectors items.They are legend in song and story there (I notice the guy with the Mercedes "kills" on his door).
