saw a vw thing today....can't believe they actually made that car. The VW Thing is almost a straight-up copy of the World War 2 German Kubelwagen- the Wehrmacht (German Army) equivalent of the Jeep.
Just because it represents an interesting footnote of automotive histoy, I find it somewhat appealing. I have a friend in the Mojave Desert who has one- with a V-8 mounted in it. The thing will practically climb a tree.
