I currently drive a Passat W8 so I really like the Audi/VW feel.
There is a used S8 around here with 60k miles on it for about $38k. I'm drooling.
Oh . . . my . . . GOD. What is that? I want one of those, except I want it all rusted out and crappy so I can restore it. I'm gonna make it glossy hot pink, with a zebra interior and a chain-link steerin' wheel, and I will be even cooler than I am now (if that's possible).
"...named after a parking ticket..."
That's appropriate. A fella sure would be hard pressed to use one of thsoe to commit a moving violation.
No! The Fiat 124 spider is considered a poor man's Ferrari.
Resembles the 2 door Pinto hatchback--sometimes mistaken for a really nasty-looking Gremlin.
Did you check this out? Brings back some really ugly memories.... LOL
I'd like a '69 Chevelle SS, with a 442 engine in it instead, and a Holley 4 barrel, with Hurst shifter...
..but with my luck I'd end up killing myself with it.
Renault R4. Made to compete with the Citoen 2CV. Had the shifter sticking out the middle of the dash about where the radio is.
This was around a long time, too.

289 - "Is that a early NASA design?"
Well, it was a 1958 Oldsmobile 'Rocket' 88/98.
339 - "#286 - It's a BMW...No kidding."
Actually, it's not a really BMW. It was an 'Isetta', which BMW (motorcycles) bought to get into the car manufacturing business.
Stick a sparkplug boot on the back side of the throttle cable tube between the fan shroud and engine shroud. Problem solved.
351 - "my girlfriend even threatened to leave if I sold it. [VW bug]
I hope there isn't an ounce of truth to that.

It makes sense - it was rather hard, (though not impossible) for a girl to get pregnant in a VW bug.
Range Rover! You're so SWEET to pass on the Pacer info!
I might be able to get one yet- not talking about how long it would last driving down flooded streets in this area tho! -lol
All the reasons people have for hating the Pacer are the reasons I like it. Wide base, lots of glass- no blind spots! What can I say, I like the fishtank look. Maybe it's a Pisces thing! :-P
457 - The AMC Pacer certainly was different, and I had one, which I liked and bought for exactly those reasons you mention: It had lots of space, wide as it was long, lots of viewable glass with no blind spots, easy to park (short). comfortable ride.
Biggest problems I had - 1. Too many mechanical problems, and 2. Here in Texas - toooooooo much glass - just couldn't get away from the sun inside it was like being in a hot greenhouse, even with the AC at full blast.
