NY Senate candidate calls for Springsteen boycott 8/16/2004, 2:18 p.m. ET By MARC HUMBERT The Associated Press

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Upset with Bruce Springsteen's effort to bounce President Bush from the White House, the New York Conservative Party's candidate for U.S. Senate is launching a "Boycott the Boss" television ad.

"He thinks making millions with a song-and-dance routine allows him to tell you how to vote," Marilyn O'Grady says in the 30-second spot. "Here's my vote: Boycott the Boss. If you don't buy his politics, don't buy his music."

"I stand with President Bush and it's time to tame the liberal elite," O'Grady adds.

Aides to O'Grady, a Long Island ophthalmologist seeking to unseat Democratic incumbent Charles Schumer, said the ad would begin airing Tuesday on Fox Television's Albany station and would likely appear on other Fox stations and cable channels around the state in coming days.

Hey--I quit a long time ago, when Bruce called for Bush to be impeached for lying about why we went into Iraq.

Amazing. A political candidate with enough spine to stand up to the Leftist celebrity! Will miracles never cease?

Hell, if I was in New York, she'd have my vote. She's showed more backbone than a lot of other politicians at the forefront these days...

I've been boycotting Springsteen since his highly overrated Born in the USA album (19 years ago). His last good album was The River, 24 years ago.

Does my boycott count? I never liked him anyway and don't own anything by him...

the New York Conservative Party's candidate for U.S. Senate

Who is the Republican candidate? And why is the Conservative Party not cross-endorsing the Republican (usually necessary for any Republican to win state-wide office in New York)?

Boycotting brucey is fine. I'd prefer if this candidate slammed Chuckie do nothing schumer and his extremist liberal votes and speeches and proposals.

Don't boycott them and talk about it; that just gives these turkeys publicity. Just ignore them, then go about your business informing family, friends and co-workers about President Bush's great record and sterling character!

Howard Mills is the Republican candidate. The Conservatives are not backing him because he is a RINO. They are sick of backing tax-hiking RINOs.

Schumer will win anyway.

I like the Kerry theme song he`s singing "No Surrender"... Is that an attempt by Bruce to hide Kerrys French DNA?

I liked Bruce's 'The River'. But he's just so vitriolic that it makes it hard to hear him sing after hearing him spew.

Did anyone catch this E! Online version? This part caught my eye:

(The spot makes no mention of O'Grady's views on illegally downloading Springsteen's music for free.)

Miss Hall, the article's author manages to throw in this little thorn. Like only Republican's would be downloading, and illegally at that, not the pure, wholesome Demo-rat fans. Riiiiight.

Much of what used to be news is now leftie editorializing.
