About that book flap: Michael Kranish, "Our Plan for America" and the Boston Globe
Bostone Globe ^ | August 16, 2004 | Christine Chinlund

For those who missed the article on Page A4 of the Aug. 7 Globe -- and judging from last week's e-mails, many did -- here's an attempt to set the record straight on the matter of an upcoming book sponsored by the Kerry campaign, "Our Plan for America: Stronger at Home, Respected in the World," published by PublicAffairs.

Globe reporter Michael Kranish was not commissioned to write the introduction to that book, contrary to reports by some conservative commentators and Internet gossip Matt Drudge. Kranish had agreed to write the introduction to a different book -- an independent one, not sponsored by the campaign, titled "Kerry and Edwards: Their Plans and Promises" -- but the publisher scrapped that project at the last minute when it got the chance to do a book with the campaign.

[ snip ]

That fact, unfortunately, was not made immediately clear on Amazon.com. For a while, according to the publisher, an incorrect listing on Amazon.com implied -- erroneously -- that Kranish had contributed to the campaign book.

If the Globe is going to stick with their claim, why don't they take on Drudge through the legal system? If they did that then Kranish and the Globe will have to release the information of all funds and gifts that came from the Kerry Campaign.
The Globe is French Toast.

actually think this is a great thing. When dishonest propagandists put things in writing, pointing out the distortions and outright lies are much easier to refute, debunk and ridicule.

Yeah, I didn't even need to use my keyboard for that one. Just two simple cut and pastes using the mouse.

As for other commentators' erroneous reports suggesting Kranish was involved in the campaign book, Taft added, "This is a case where good journalism ran up against bad journalism."

$#@@%&

Responsible journalists pursued the story past pat denials. They ended up deciding even with all the weird discrepancies that Kranish was clean. It was not at all "bad journalism," it was real journalism, as opposed to fellating the Democrats.

cyncooper: You really need to go to work as a paid researcher!

If the DNC is reading ANY of your posts, they should be feeling deeply ashamed of themselves. They have become transcribers and you are doing their jobs for them, and for us. Thank you.

In other words, upon learning of this unauthorized review, the Kerry campaign bribed the publisher to not pursue the book by offering up an authorized book. Now there is a story worth pursuing.

Thank you very much.

BTW, click my link. The Kranish "accreditation" is now...gone.

I think it's plain to see I did a direct cut and paste so that demonstrates it most certainly was there before.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

And how in the HELL is this supposed to assure us of Kranish's objective reporting skills? What is this nonsense? Does the GLOBE think EVERYONE is STUPID? Or do they just not care? What in the HELL does NOT taking money from the campaign coffers have to do with BIAS?

For the record:

I went to barnesandnoble.com and entered Kranish in the search engine. Of the hits I got, the first one was the link I provided and then I did the cut and paste from that very page for the Kerry/Edwards book.

In fact, try it yourself everybody.

Go to barnesandnoble.com and simply enter Kranish in the search bar (I did not modify the category search) and the very FIRST listing offered is the Kerry/Edwards book though they've now removed the accreditation that was there earlier per the cut and paste I (thank heaven) posted in #13.

I emailed the OM(Kery's)Bud)

It was only in the Subject line but read:

ombud@globe.com, AKA we love Kerry, the man who lied....while good men died.

"As far as I can tell, if there's any malign intent here, it was someone making Drudge think Michael was somehow doing something for [Kerry's] campaign," Osnos said.

Of course. How silly of us. That's what Lurch has the Globe's editorial board for.

Soooo, it was a campaign book before it wasn't a campaign book?

Let me repeat. Either that pic was hacked - in which case why isn't this article saying so? - or someone here is covering up the truth.
