August 16, 2004 -- WHAT do you think is the most common form of death for pregnant women in American cities?

No, it's not complications of pregnancy or childbirth. It's not poor pre-natal care. It's not pregnancy-related blood diseases or anything else you might imagine..

Frey evidence a boost for DA

Frey evidence a boost for DA

But defense is likely to get in a last word on the audiotapes

By Jason Dearen, STAFF WRITER

REDWOOD CITY -- While the many hours of secretly taped telephone calls between Amber Frey and Scott Peterson sink into the minds of the six men and six women of the jury in his double-murder trial, his defense team has been quiet, waiting for their chance to cross-examine the Fresno massage therapist.

For the most part, Frey has been an extremely successful prosecution witness in a case the state has watched slip through its fingers, legal analysts say. Peterson's persistent deception of his mistress, all caught on tape, has damaged his credibility and painted him as a pathological liar who will say anything to get what he wants. .......

Geragos set to face 'real test'

Geragos set to face 'real test'

REDWOOD CITY -- Amber Frey has testified about Scott Peterson wooing her with dozens of roses and a handmade caramel apple. That same night, his pregnant wife went alone to a Christmas party.

She recorded talk about definitions of love and plans for trips to Hawaii, conversations that took place while a massive search was under way for Laci Peterson.

And now Peterson's attorney Mark Geragos, his client facing possible execution, will have to diminish or neutralize the star prosecution witness -- a young mother who, at police request, secretly taped hours of calls that reveal her then-boyfriend as a chronic liar.

Big job ahead for Geragos...........

Headline is misleading with respect to the article... for the pregnancy itself, the #1 threat is... mommy and her abortionist.

OF COURSE, THE GREATEST RISK OF ALL TO UNBORN CHILDREN IS NOT DADDY. IT'S MOMMY AND HER ABORTIONIST.

Another consequence of legalized abortion. I have to believe that if abortion were not legal, men would INSIST on the use of condoms. While condoms aren't 100%, of course, they're about 95% if used consistently and properly, and in combination with another form of birth control such as the pill, failure is virtually non-existent (something like 1 in 10,000 over a year.)

Men who don't want to be fathers need to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for birth control themselves. Either that, or just don't have sex.

Extry, extry, read all about it: Peterson LIED to his MISTRESS! </sarcasm>

Really, why should I care if he lied to his mistress? Does that have anything to do with his killing his wife? I think his fishing trip is the real reason to convict.

If Mark Geragos loses this one he'll be chasing ambulances for a living./ Geragos has his back against the wall, this is a must win for him.

Oh yeah, that Petterson guy would probably like an acquittal, too.

Are there any figures to support this assertion--that the most common form of death for a pregnant woman is murder?

I'd have guessed accident.

As for the abortion asides--Daddy is a big risk for "persuading" either his daughters or wives or sex partners to get abortions.

"Takes two to tango! :)"

True-- but I think the problem is that the women DO want to be mothers. While they may agree to use birth control and try not to become pregnant, if the truth is that deep down they really want a baby, then they're conflicted and forgetting pills and such is easy to do. The situation forces her to act in opposition to her real desire, whereas a man who doesn't want to be a father using a condom is acting in accordance with his real desire.

Is the little bit of sensitivity lost through use of a condom really worth 18 years of child support payments? Seems to me that these guys are making cost/benefit calculations that are DEEPLY MESSED UP!! ;)

Men and women are sufficiently different that most men do not recognize women's pornography even when it is right out in the open. A surprising amount of it is sadomasochistic in nature.

People get murdered every day. Why do these few become media extravaganzas? Who watches this stuff, and why? Is it the horror? Or is it something else?

Even without English grammer lessons, the first pronoun, and the concept of it, is " I ".

Most, if not all of life revolves around that.

Therein is the root of all evil, be it abortion or any other sin.

When we choose to push "I" aside, one learns truth uncluttered.

Abotions would not exist if unwanted pregnancies didn't exist and unwanted pregnancies wouldn't exist if the act that produces pregnancy was not performed until the life it can produce is wanted.

Wanted pregnancies are never aborted.

It's too easy for the mediots to pick one, focus on it almost exclusively, and then attempt to win the ratings battle - these are the new "soaps".

Absent this, the media would actually have to work and report the rest of the news.

Watch this story. It'll turn out that they cherry-picked the data to support their conclusion.

This is so silly. They should be cheering that fatal pregnancy complications are so rare that a mother is more likely to be murdered than die from them, but instead they're trying to create some horrific national trend of paternal murder. The media makes me sick.
