Hidden Democratic Game Plan for 527s

Hidden Democratic Game Plan for 527s

If you thought the idea behind the 527s has been to buy TV ads attacking George Bush, you're wrong.

BusinessWeek revealed their hidden strategy in a small item that received little press attention. But it caught our eye.

So far, the pro-Kerry 527s have spent $33 million on TV ads bashing Bush.

But the same 527s, backed by Bush-hating billionaires like George Soros, have spent more than triple that amount - some $85 million -- on registering new (read Democratic) voters.

These voter registration drives are below the radar screen, but may prove decisive for the Democrats on Election Day.

Steve Rosenthal, head of one of the leading 527s, Americans Coming Together, says, "There has never been anything like this magnitude of voter contact in history."

Rosenthal doesn't lie. The Republicans -- already on track to be outspent by the Democrats by 2 to 1 -- have not mounted any comparative effort.

There is no hard data on how effective the grassroots voter efforts have been so far, but NewsMax hears that the 527s are pouring millions into building get-out-the-vote operations in two states: Florida and Ohio.

The St. Petersburg Florida newspaper had a newspaper editorial about this last Friday. Highlighting the lack of the GOP Get Out The Vote effort in Florida, particularly St. Pete, but it may be statewide. I didn't go read the article, as I was in the car listening to Rush read bits and pieces of it on his Friday show.

The unions are spending more than a hundred million to register voters, the teachers unions have 1,800+ full time political activists and are spending millions to get the vote out.

Its all over the place.

It shouldn't cost the RNC $85 million for GOP volunteers to volunteer some time to do some door-to-door registration drives.

Then of course they are using convicted felons to register voters.

Not to worry. Grass roots organization is one thing money alone can't buy--not at the last minute. Hiring strangers to knock on doors can't do it. Churchgoers with lists of parishioners, on the other hand, can be a powerful force--and don't think the Kerry people don't know it. Only one out of four voted for Bush last time. This time it'll be more like three out of four. And they are organized down to the precinct in most of the battleground states. There are millions of these people, all fired up. So let them brag they've got Soros' millions--that's all they can do--brag.

I am wondering how many residents of cemetaries are being registered to vote. After all, the democrats have a reputation as miracle workers. They can even raise the dead. You don't believe me? Just look at the election records in locations like Chicago, Illinois.

I just registered so that I could respond to this topic.

I was young during the 1992 elections. I didn't know a thing about politics or the world or anything, but some activists knocked on my door and (reminicent of Jehovah's Witnesses) persisted in convincing me to go out and vote for Clinton. I came up with excuses but they brought the voter registration form to me and even drove me to the school where I was to vote. I didn't have a clue where Clinton stood on the issues, nor did I even know what the issues were. I just wanted them to quit bugging me.

I was completely ignorant of all things political and remained so for many years. Looking back, I had a lot of liberal tendencies. They were based purely on emotions. Government social programs seemed to be a way to help people in need. Deer hunting was tantamount to killing Bambi. You get the picture. I didn't know any better.

I do now. When 9/11 happened I realized how ignorant I still was about the big world and decided to learn more. I read alot of news and came to discussion forums and asked questions. Instead of someone explaining to me that it wasn't the Americans who were responsible for the starvation of so many in Iraq, I was flamed and called names. That's not right. Someone should have explained to me that Saddam was using that money on his palaces. Someone should have explained alot of things to me about alot of issues. That's one thing we can do. We can answer people's questions with facts and reason and logic. Alot of people are simply ignorant of what the facts are.

The left knows that most people are not willing to make the effort to learn about the world around them. That's why they come up with cute little slogans that stick in people's mind. They also come out with headlines knowing that alot of people won't read the actual article (which too often contradicts the headline, right?). People skim headlines and end up with an inaccurate view of what's really going on.

Alot of people are ignorant. That doesn't mean they are stupid. When I come across your typical left-leaning person I'll point out some quick facts to them. For instance, California is governed by Dems. Isn't it funny though that compared with the rest of the country, California has such a problem with pollution, such a problem with crime, such a high cost of living with the very rich and the majority poor, etc? Yet they claim to be the environmentalists? They have all the gun laws? They have all of the answers to our economic woes?

It takes 30 seconds to tell someone that, and that thought will stay with them for years. "That never occurred to me..." they say.

What can we do in response to the Dems going out and misleading our country?

First, we can stop turning people off and away just because they don't know everything and see everything from the "right" side.

Second, we can provide them with answers.

Here are two scenarios:

"OMG! I just read that millions of Iraqi's have died and are starving because of American sanctions! I feel terrible! How could we do such a thing?!"

YOU STUPID LIBERAL SOCIALIST WEENIE, BLAH BLAH BLAH...

*or*

THAT'S NOT THE REASON. SADDAM IS ALLOWED TO SELL AS MUCH OIL AS HE WANTS TO BUY FOOD, MEDICINE, ETC. BUT INSTEAD, HE USES THAT MONEY ON HIS LAVISH LIFESTYLE... HERE ARE SOME LINKS TO BACK THIS UP... IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS WE WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SHOW YOU WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON...

Is there anyone here who used to lean to the left out of ignorance? If so, what was it that brought you over to the right? Scare tactics like the libs use? Pulling on heartstrings? Or was it facts, logic and reason and someone willing to answer your questions?

Just something to think about.

Is NewsMax seriously math-challenged, or am I just picking nits?
