I've heard that a recall of Chavez would raise the price of oil, and the talking heads on Fox say that it is better for Bush if Chavez stays in office.

Well, Chavez has got to go. His country could, if he truly becomes another Castro, cause all sorts of havoc.

Of course, the real mistake was in the coup of 2002: to this day I can't believe the coup leaders didn't have the good chance to shoot... allow Chavez to "commit suicide" when they captured him.

No way. Even if the price of oil goes up by a little bit, that will only be temporary. The loss of a potential terrorist stronghold is far more important than a blip in the price of oil.

Not really. Oil will go up in price in the short term if the recall is successful, but over the long term this recall should bring someone in to power in Venezuela who won't give Billions of free oil to Cuba, and who will instead dump that oil onto the ca$h paying global market.

For fighting the war on terror and for long term stability, as well as for long term economic prosperity, recalling Chavez and replacing him in a subsequent election with someone remotely compatible with capitalism will be positive both for President Bush as well as for the world at large...over the long term.

In the short term, this won't help President Bush's re-election, but that's a sidenote compared to the bigger picture (and besides, Bush will win re-election easily despite the nonsense you see published to the contrary).

Even if oil prices were to raise with Chavez out, wouldn't you still want him out? BTW, welcome aboard.

Your first problem was listening to the idiots on Fox News.

The price of oil is based on supply and demand. Do you tink a Chavez replacement would turn off the spigot? The spigot that will be turned off is the one that's giving Cuba virtually free oil.

Now how can the removal of a wanna-be tyrant hurt Bush?

People should start thinking for themselves and stop listening to the pundits.
