"Nobody can force me to leave or depart you," al-Sadr said. "We got rid of Saddam [Hussein] only to have him replaced by something worse than him."What is this "we" talk Fat Boy? Does anyone remember Fat Boy helping out when our troops kicked Iraqi butt last year?

yup - Iran's hand has been in this since the beginning. They want one of two things to happen IMHO. Either their stooge al-Sadr is allowed to form the seeds of an Islamic theocracy in Najaf (note Sadr's demands that Najaf be left ruled by he and his kind) or, even better for the Iranian mullah's, they totally demolish the shrine and transfer the epicenter of Shia Islam from Najaf to Iran (Qom I think is their Islamic center).
We tend to think of things in terms we understand so the media tends to interpret Iranian actions as fear of or preparation for a butt kicking by the US. But all along with the infiltration of their agents, the simultaneous uprisings in Najaf and Falluja, and now al-Sadr's pre-election intifada II, they have been making a major power play for Iraq in an effort to extend their "Caliphate". It has very little to do with us - we just happen to be the ones who put Iraq into play.
Allawi and the rest of the Iraqi people are waking up to Iran's strategy now that we've handed authority over to them and the killings haven't stopped. I don't think they'll put up with the "foreigners" and their agent al-Sard for much longer.

Better yet, use the surgical gas that the Russians used on the terrorists holed up in that theather last year. If they survive the gas, drag them out and let the Iraqis know what they were planning on doing.

The Iranians are gambling that this will buy them time to build a bomb unmolested.
It took 75,000 troops to invade Iraq. (The 25,000 from Turkey didn't materialize until after Baghdad fell)
It will only take 70,000 troops to topple Iran.
They are leaving Germany tomorrow.
Iran better hurry up and put their ball into play - because the chess master if moving the queen into position for a check mate move.

Here's a message for the "religion of peace": When you allow armed combatants to use your "holy sites" as an armed base of operations, they might get attacked. Amen to that! Next, they'll be trying to tell us baby formula factories are actually producting baby formula!
Gee, but Iraq's Saddam-loyalists have been so considerate of non-Muslim religious buildings. Why, they only blew up 4 churches last week.

I shall attack that mosque from here, right now.
*ahem*
*step up on platform, strikes 'public announcement' pose*
I do not like that mosque. I shall never for the rest of my life spend any money at that mosque, buy any photographs or memorabillia pertaining to that mosque, or any recordings made there. Tonight I will search through my library at home and if I have any of the above items I will destroy them.
There. Quite a horrible, mean-spirited, vicious attack by the standards of Michael Moore, Elton John, and their ilk.
So, now they can go ahead and detonate thieir explosives.

If that's all they care about the holy place, why should we care.
I know, Jesse Jackson to the rescue.

I think we could ask the Russians about the proper amount of that operation.

I've been thinking the same thing the last few days. Why can't the Iraqi or U.S. special forces throw some in at night or maybe by air?

I guess they can't just try to wait them out. They probably get supplied with things and food through all those underground tunnels that even run through the cemetery!
