Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry said Saturday that his daughter Vanessa has won a Fulbright scholarship to study medicine in London. Vanessa Kerry is a 27-year-old Harvard medical student who frequently travels with her father's campaign. According to the Fulbright Web site, about 1,000 U.S. students are awarded the federally funded fellowships each year of about 4,500 who apply. Kerry told reporters traveling with him to a long weekend vacation in Idaho that Vanessa recently found out she was one of this year's winners.

((((Wake Up, America!))))
Don't know that I'd have applied if I were the daughter of a billionaire, but I'm glad that the Fulbright Scholarship is completely merit based as opposed to the usual needs-based philosophy.

Let's see if Kerry's inept advisors tell him the proper thing to do here...
Turn it down and let it go to someone who needs it!

I'm sure Lurch is resting easier now that he no longer has to bear the extra financial strain of having a daughter in medical school overseas...

There must be a deserving minority student she could let have in her place.

That is ridiculous. Why would she accept the scholarship when her parent (s) are able to buy the school?

The Fulbright scholarship is a merit-based international academic exchange program.
Since its creation in 1946, 255,000 individuals have participated in the Fulbright program, with 96,400 from the United States and 158,600 from other countries. The Fulbright program operates bilaterally with 151 countries around the world.

Is this based on financial need?

Who care !
Besides the left owns academia and Fullbright is no longer a good school; unless you are a leftist enamored with Kerry. I doubt that she "won" anything. It's just the left paying homage to an EXTREMELY WEALTHY DEMONCRAT. On that note doesn't Kerry feel bad that others who lack their EXTREME WEALTH aren't getting that FREE education? Or is it the situation of the greedy liberal again?
